Would it be safe to always charge iPhone Plus with a wall charger designed for an iPad (12w). It charges quicker (I think) but could it possibly impact iPhone battery capacity in a long term perspective? :)

If it wasn't safe to use with an iPhone, do you think Apple would list every iPhone as compatible devices?

Heard it can damage the battery but i'm not too sure.

No, it doesn't.

Never a single issue using it to charge my 6+ over 2 years. Yes the battery on my phone became crap over time but that's normal with any iPhone and has nothing to do with the charger I used.

It helps to read the article.

The article also states this:

speculation among netizens that this could be the cause of the explosion as the cable for iPad has a voltage of 2.5A, while that for iPhone is 1A.

"Speculation among netizens" is a less than convincing argument. And then I just have to laugh at "voltage of 2.5A." Seriously?

Apple lists the 12w charger as compatible with every iPhone sold. If it wasn't compatible or could potentially cause a fire, they wouldn't be selling it.

I have the iPad charger given by my previous colleague.
Can I bring it to the Apple Store and have them to make sure it's not third party charger?

I've been allways using an iPad charger as well. What made me ask this questinon was that my 6s battery is at 80% of it's original capacity at the moment (as reproted by Coconut). The phone is 11 month old. Although it might be that this is another issue cause it has a lot of battery cycles behind it already.

Assuming you have 1 month warranty left if it drops below 80% capacity it's covered for replacement. Probably wouldn't change anything at this point. Once the battery is replaced and out of warranty normal charging is less wear and tear. I've got a four year old battery that's now just dropping to 80% but I've always used normal charging so your 11 month battery is relatively new.

I've been using the 12W charger on a 5S, 6S, 6S+ and a 6+ with no problems at all. The 6S, 6S+ and 6+ will charge faster with this charger then with the included charger.
