Heard it can damage the battery but i'm not too sure.

I will be honest, this DID happen with my 6+ (Silver) when I had it. Used the iPhone charger and somehow the case expanded and the top corner of the phone came apart, was very odd.

But, on my 6s I also used the iPad charger and it worked perfectly.

I have 164 load cycles on my ip6+. CoconutBattery says battery health is still at 100%.

1. I only charge to 80% before unplugging. Never discharge below 40%.
2. Only charge up to 100% once a month.
3. Only use the 5W charger. Not the iPad charger.

Although Apple says an iPhone can be charged with an iPad charger, charging any Li-ion battery at a high rate will shorten it's life a bit. It's a trade off.

I keep an iPad charger at work. give it a quick charge at work before heading home. using it for about 3yrs now, no issues.

Assuming you have 1 month warranty left if it drops below 80% capacity it's covered for replacement. Probably wouldn't change anything at this point. Once the battery is replaced and out of warranty normal charging is less wear and tear. I've got a four year old battery that's now just dropping to 80% but I've always used normal charging so your 11 month battery is relatively new.
Where do you check your battery life at?

I'd stick to normal charging to be safe and limit fast charging to special circumstances and even then keep an eye on it. It's listed as compatible but has also been involved in a fire.

Not too sure I would believe much about an article that's calls 2.1 and 1.0 amps of power adapters "voltage". And this from a engineering student at the polytechnic.

In addition with one case cited out of a Billion iPhones sold. I have better odds at getting hit by lightning. I'd stick to official Apple statement that iPad power adapter safe to use on iPhone.

And how did you conclude causality of the expansion to the iPad power adapter? A faulty battery, which does occur every so often would/could have expanded using the 1 amp iPhone power adapter cube as well.

The charging circuit in each iPhone decides how much amperage to draw from the power adapter it is plugged into depending on the battery charge level. Draws the most from 0 to 80% then reduces till at 100% the iPhone draws only a trickle charge intermittently. You could leave it plugged in indefinitely. Apple designed it to be idiot user proof. Except for one thing, and that's consumer buying and using knock-off cable and power adapters. See articles below.

Remember, the charger is inside the iPhone. The cube is a transformer rectifier. It adapts 110V AC 60Hz or 220V AC 50Hz current to 5V DC. Hence the name, "power adapter".

Just be sure to use a real Apple cord and power adapter, not a look-a-like Chinese knockoff from Amazon guaranteed to be from Apple, LMAO. You paid close to $1000 for phone don't try to save $20 on cheap power adapter or cable. There is a great article about construction of knock off power adapters.

I had the 6+ for two years and always used a 12w and also a 2.1A in the car.
Battery capacity was 94% when I sold it
