I added an Intel X25M to a new 13" MBP

I just upgraded my new 2.53GHz 13" MBP with an X25M 160gb SSD....before reading these threads

So here is my xbench test. I also was looking around on xbench and found a test for a stock 2.53GHz 13" MBP. While there has certainly been a big speed bump we don't know how good it could be.

Clearly your Intel drive is clogging up the 1.5Gb/s SATA connection.

Wow, your Intel SSD really is running at half speed. Here is a comparison with my 2.4GHz umb also running on Intel X25 SSD 160GB. Everything else is faster on your new umbp tho.

What's the firmware version of your vertex, mine keeps freezing on OSX install... tried to downgrade to 1.1 but still having the issue

I have 1.30 on mine. It hung the first time too, and I just had a hang when I tried to install vmware..

I think i'm just going to try to sell this on ebay and get another x25-m.. OCZ support has been great, but these things just aren't mac ready...

don't sell it yet, you don't know x25m will work on it.
I feel this drive should works fine on previous uMB.

After install macos, i have around 5 times freeze so far.
if i do time machine backup, it will for sure freeze around half of the backup.
I tried sleep and wake up, doesn't seem freeze.
So sometimes it's just random. I can still stand it right now.
Hope Indilink could release a new fw for mac. Or... apple release a fw to fix this 1.5gb.

I dont now that much about how to fix this problem.
Would it be possible to use the SATA2 kernel extensions from an older 15" unibody mac and transfer them to the newer 13" / 15" model.

I have access to both laptops if someone can give me some idea of what to do.

no you can't. it's somewhere deeper in the firmware.
If you have a fast ssd, you can timing the startup and launch application time.
So give people an idea how much difference it is.

Has anyone tested a Vertex 120 on the 13" uMBP? I'm less concerned with the 1.5 issue and more concerned with freezing during and post install.

Same problems with the g.skill Falcon 128. I'm going to eBay it and try to be happy with a 500GB 7200RPM Segate. The Falcon worked great in the SATA II Unibody MacBook for the week I had it before the 13" MBP came out.

I could live with a small speed bottleneck but I can't live with knowing that it is going to lock up a few times a day. This is what was happening with my Falcon and the 13" MBP. I also had a heck of a time not freezing on install.

Can you apply the new SATA Firmware update and repost your xbench results? Please.

wow SSD's really push benchmarks...

I have 13" MBP with 2.53Ghz Core2 Duo and 500GB Seagate 7200rpm HDD

Applied the SATA EFI update.

Here are the results.
