Radio Shack took me about 15 minutes to get the phone activated and out the door. When I walked in this morning around 10am, there was 1 person being helped, and the other guy asked for my last name, went in the back, and emerged with the Jesus Phone.

I've had really ****** ( long wait ) experiences with Apple during the 3G and 3GS launch... then again, RadioShack only got about 10 units. :/

That's freakin awesome and congrats:D! What state?

WOW...and yours must suck twice as bad if you feel the need to bring others down that way.

The OP did not deserve that.

I totally agree....no need to put people down for making a choice of their own and they sure in the hell don't need your permission.

Totally uncalled for and very personnal.

I'm curious to hear for those of you spending most of your day waiting in line. Did you try to make a reservation at all and not get through?

YUP! from 530am to 630pm ive stayed at the line to get my iphone 4
this was at the Willowbrook Mall in New Jersey
They were taking 20 people from reserved and 1 from the walk in
it was insane
there was a lot of line cutters, which then got sent to the back of the line
many people fighting about how they don't want to wait.
I was happy that they were serving water, chips, ice cream, starbucks.
Also, by the 5th hour, i didn't even stay in line anymore, i just walked around the mall and when i got back i went straight to the place i was and no one said a thing. everyone was doing it.
The people working at the store were kinda lazy, im sorry, but the managers were good, i went to the store about 2 months ago and had a 30 min talk with the manager, just random talk, and today he remembered me which made me happy that i was at his store.
So i was wondering
what was your experience like?
how long did you wait? from what time to what time? what state?
did they serve any food or drinks?

Any questions just ask

But did you get one?

Went to the nearby vodafone store at 8:55, 13 people ahead.

I signed up a week earlier to hold an iPhone 4 16GB.

At 9 o'clock the store opened and 4 guys were served. Other 5 figured out that they couldn't get an iPhone and walked away because of the short supply and they even didn't signed up to hold one for them.

9:25 I've been served, and I got my iPhone NOT, because of my credit check that will take 24 hours :(

I'll hopefully have mine tomorrow.

I'm not trying to put anyone down, just making an observation. If 13 hours wasted in order to get a phone is exciting then the OP needs to find some hobbies or a job or something to make those 13 hours worth more than standing in line.

What if he has plenty of hobbies and leads an exciting life... but decided he wanted to wait in line for a phone and found it exciting?

Take internet forums, for example... I'm sure people spend hours on Twitter, Facebook or text messaging yet would find the idea of an internet forum preposterous and a huge waste of time. Hobbies are relative, man.

Really? Is that really called for?

It amaze me at just how many self absorbed asses are on this forum. The OP was simply telling us his iphone launch line event and right away the asses come out and play. Some of you really need to freakin lighten up and get a grip. THIS IS A FORUM, don't like the thread, simply pass and move on.

Geez

I totally agree. It is so much easier to just move to another thread than be a jerk.

A friend and I both arrived at our local mall at around 4:45 AM or so. Soon two lines were formed (one for reserves and one for walk-ins, first-come-first served. We all went into the mall in our neat orderly lines. I was around number 25 in the reserves line. He was probably around number 110 or 125 in the walk-ins line. He had not been able to place either a preorder or a reservation on June 15th and because he really needed a new iPhone now ( his other having been damaged in an accident), he was in the walk-ins line.

At maybe 7:15 AM or so, I got into the store, got my iPhone, got it activated, etc., and was out before 7:30. I went on home to play with my new iPhone and to sync it, etc.

My friend didn't get his new iPhone until around 1:30 PM. He was just happy to have gotten the thing, but, yes, that was a LONG wait!

Mine was very similiar and frankly its a joke that a pre order line would take this long. I will order home deliver next time hands down

Telling somebody their life must suck isn't putting them down????

It was a rate of about 35 to 1 in Reston, Va. We got watermelon, oranges, brownies and smartwater. The purchases went very smoothly

not to rub it in. but I was in and out in 5 minutes lol. I went around 5pm after work. They had run out of walkin phones about an hour and a half before hand so all that was left was reserves.

OP, were you able to get your phone? Glad you had a decent experience waiting in line despite the length of time. Enjoy your new phone!
