The tech does keep getting better and better with apple stuff but I feel they are losing touch with their audience. The price of the Air & iPads in particular is becoming somewhat offensive!

Sounds about the time when I need a new MBA, and many more rumors will pass before that :)

Patting my 11” 2018 iPad Pro on its back; “another year and a bit for us old friend”.

My iPhone X shows no sign of the slightest burn in. However the colors seem a bit bleached compared to my newer iPhone S. But also my 2013 iMac LED Display looks waaaay off, compared to my newer 2020 iMac, which looks almost like oled. Also I used the iPhone X for hundreds of hours on like 75% brightness with the YouTube app. No burn in of anything.

So I expect an oled in 2024 to be at least as burn in resistent as my old iPhone X.
Color degradation however happens in any screen technology.

If I had to guess I would say, professionals should buy a new display every 5 years or earlier.

Does it affect a source's track record in MacRumors' grading system if he/she changes their previous reports by suggesting Apple's original plans (which cannot be verified) were delayed or cancelled? My impression—which I am too lazy to verify with a search—is that Ross Young has floated quite a few incorrect rumors in between his correct predictions.

ProMotion on the MacBook Air? That would be the first time it appears on a device without Pro in the name.. Then again that might happen with iPhone 15 Ultra. Either way they should definitely allow refresh rates above 60hz on more devices.

How so? The original MacBook Air cost $1799 when it first came out in 2008. The 2010 model debuted at $1399. The 2018 model debuted at $1199. None of those figures are adjusting for inflation. The current model starts at $1199 and you can already get it on sale for $1049. Same story for iPads - they debuted at $499 in 2010 dollars and now you can get the latest and greatest base model for $450 (currently on sale for $400).

I'm hopeful that this 15 inch Macbook Air may be announced in the upcoming March event.

The recent steam database listing of a Macbook model [15,4] gives me hope?
I hope so. But I have a feeling Apple may announce the 14" & 16" MacBook Pro with M2 in March 2023. They are definitely due in terms of upgrades. MBA may come next Summer/Fall of 2023.

Presumably when this model launches the current M2 will stay in the lineup and drop to $999 to replace the M1, the OLED M3 may come in at the same $1,199 or go up a bit to $1,299.
Maybe, but I'd find it more likely they just keep the M1 @ $999 even in 2024. Cause Apple.

OLED to new MBA would be amazing and about the time I might want to upgrade my M2 MBA.

If these rumors are true I would be very happy. A 15" with OLED would be the perfect air and maybe M4 processor with 3nm or better!

Apple has been really slow to even consider OLED and the fact they have invested so much into mini LED makes me wonder about such a rumor. Only time will tell I guess.

I would buy that 15" MBA. I love my 16 MBP M1Pro but wish it was 2 pounds lighter.
Yup. I just bought my 16 M1 and good as it is, it sure can do we less weight and an inch off.

I was hoping for a 15 Air in 23 and planned to sell the M1 for the Air. There goes that plan!

Apple seems to be all about the upsell of their products to those who don't really need them or to those who want to feel better than others because they have a "Pro" model.

No offense to anyone who buys a Pro device of any kind but it really seems like a marketing tactic over actual use case at this point.

Look at the iPhone Pro Max or iPad Pro. All of there other devices lack key features to push you to the next level. I know Apple is not a charity or value leader but it would be nice if they started to drop all the Pro monikers and tried to deliver what the consumer really wants.

I think with the latest Pro MacBooks like the M1 14" and 16" they listened to what Professionals really needed and delivered a truly exceptional laptop actually designed for Pro users.

Now it would be nice if they designed a regular MacBook for users who might just want an air level device in a larger format instead of trying to push those consumers to a 16" Pro. The 16" MBP is an incredible piece of kit and perfect for Pro users but Pro users are not the only ones who want a bigger screen! A lot of us like a thin and light MacBook with a fan less design in a 15" or bigger screen size!!

Hopefully Apple will listen to the non Pro users in the next year or two!!

As an owner of the early versions of both an Intel MBP and iPad Air, I fully agree! Prices now are substantially less.
