Found the fix!

Update your boot camp to the latest version 3.1 and boo bam! There is another update for boot camp after this but I got so excited that the sound was working normally through my speakers I figured I'd post!

This worked for me!

Download a new cirrus driver to a folder on your desktop. tThen install it by going to control panel-sounds & audio devices-hardware-cirrus Logic-properties-driver-update driver-install from a specific location.

Here's where you can get the driver and a really good explanation for why this is happening:

I'm running Windows XP, btw.

Guys i found a cure!!!!

:apple:

I'm not sure if this works for everyone but I had the same issue with audio sounding like there's no bass.

The reason it sounds like that is because the driver thinks you're on 4 speakers!

To fix this, go to control panel, sound, select "Speakers" from the Playback-tab, click "Configure" and select "Sterio" from Audio Channels.

This should fix the problem!

Realtek Update Worked for Me

The Realtek update that was discussed above worked perfectly for me, I am running a 2008 8 core Mac Pro with 64bit Windows 7 Home Basic SP1. I found that picking the right server to download the update from is crucial to getting a fast download, just try out all servers until you find the fastest one, Australia seemed to be fastest on the 'East Cost' server (hover over 'US2' to see the server location). Just to make your lives easier, this is the direct link to the download page:

I downloaded the one in the second row down. Hope this helps people.

I just set up my new MacBook Pro 13-inch with Boot Camp. Initially I put Windows 7 RC on it, but I couldn't get the audio control function keys to work. Figuring Win 7 is probably quirky, I figured I'd drop back to Vista for now until 7 is officially supported. (Interesting how easy Apple makes it to annihilate a Boot Camp partition. :)

So now I have Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 running with no issues. All the Boot Camp drives and utilities seem to be working.

However, with all the sounds cranked to max in Windows, and using the F12 key, the volume is very quiet. Probably less than half of what I can get in OS X.

Anyone seen this issue? Any hints?

Steps to solve the issue...
1. right click on volume icon in task bar.
2. go to 'Playback Devices'
3. Select Speaker and click on properties.
4. Goto 'Enhancement'.
5. Select 'Loudness' and then press setting.
6. Move rocker towards long.
Apply settimng...

Problem Solved!!!!!

Thank you very much :)
