my new 13" mbp is also runing on the hot side, 43-60C with normal browsing running 2-3 apps, watching videos online will take it up to 70C+ and running graphical apps like google earth will take it over 80C after a while.

the fan stays at 2000rpm, I'm fine with it, rather want a "hot" laptop than a noisy one.

watcing video files ON the laptop itself wont heat it up really.. weird.

I have a quick question to all new 13" MBP users:

Whenever I put my computer to sleep and wake it up, the fans always come on usually at like 2500-2700 rpm even though the CPU temp is in the mid to high 30'sC. The fans eventually stop as the CPU reaches a stable 40C and 1900-2000 rpm.

Does anyone else notice, or know if it is normal for the fans to come on at that speed upon waking up the notebook? Does the SMC think it needs to be cooled off even though the CPU temp is relatively low (30C)?

I've noticed the same thing. I'm not sure if it happens everytime, but I have noticed a few times when I woke it up and the fans went to 2700 for no reason - the laptop was cold to the touch.

Glad to know I am not alone here...I noticed that the fans seem to come on if it has been asleep for a long period of time despite (like you said) it being "cold to the touch" and a low CPU temp (~30C)

Not the least worried. Yes that is in Celsius and has been that temperature for the last 30 minutes with no change in fan speed:
