I installed 16GB of Super Talent RAM in my 17" MacBook Pro 8,3 - 2.3GHz i7. It boots my SSD fine with 10.6.8, but I can't boot from my Snow Leopard USB "install disk". I've booted from the USB (generic 10.6 retail - created from DVD) on other machines, but I get the three beeps when I try to boot from the USB on this machine with the Super Talent RAM.

I got it for $96 shipped, which is why I chose the Super Talent. I figured RAM is RAM, but who knows.

I installed 16GB Corsair RAM from Frys ($109). I ran extended diagnostics with no problems reported> This is not the Apple-specific RAM. It is part number: CMSO16GX3M2A1333C9 (2 x 8GB). So far so good.

Purchased same kit, same price, from Amazon. Ran the extended AHT through about seven passes over a period of about nine hours and no trouble found.
