Maybe the salesman was just being a decent guy. B&H has a great reputation and sells a ton of stuff. They probably don't need the hassle of dealing with orders from uninformed buyers who get upset when a new model comes out. A lot of those would probably get returned. B&H may also have a relationship with Apple which allows them to return the unsold stock of iPad 2's.

Exactly, and he didn't want the OP returning in a few weeks and asking him why the heck he didn't tell him about the newbie...The guy was just being nice. He has no insider information at all.

Why do you care? While there are a lot of great people here, there are a lot of idiots, too. Just ignore the downranking. Every time Apple releases a product, we're virtually guaranteed to get lots of threads on:

• "Apple sucks! I'm leaving for _________"
• "Apple lies! My battery life sucks!" (on a brand-new, uncalibrated device)
• "I hate feature _______! Why can't they ..." Whine, whine, whine.

Just ignore the ranting and whining and enjoy the other threads.
