This may be a silly question, but I never ordered a device from the online store yet. When does the 14 day return period start? The day I receive the device? How does Apple know the specific day you received it though?

They have the tracking and would be updated on their end when it’s delivered. Goes by your delivery date

Great thanks! So I have exactly 14 days which includes the day I receive it? So technically, on day 14 I could drop it off at the UPS store and it’s good to go?

I assume it includes the day you receive it yes but yea as long as the return is initiated by the 14th day, you’ll be ok. It should tell you the eligible return date. I have one on order as well so I guess I’ll find out soon lol

It goes by the day you get the item delivered. Go on your apple store app, go to the order, click on check return eligibility. It will tell you the date. The date updates after it gets delivered. If you don't have the device in your possession yet its a rough estimate.

it is my understanding that you actually have more time. After you initiate the return process On the 14th day, you have another 2 weeks or so to actually send the device out with no penalty. (They will send you an email specifying the last day to send it when you initiate the return) So you actually get closer to a month total, if you truly need.

In the second set of 14 days you need to disable find my mac but can use it in every other way, as long as you wipe it by the last day. if you want to do it this way, keep in mind that they give you the second set of 14 days from the day you initiate the return. so wait to initiate until the last possible day (14 after you receive it) if you want to give yourself the most time.

But you have to return it though after the additional 14 days right? You can’t just put in for a return and then cancel again if you change your mind…

If you change your mind, you can just not return it, and your return request will expire after the 14 days. Note that it is 14 days from when you initiate the return, so set reminders to initiate the return on Day 14 after purchase if you want the longest time to decide.

How exactly do I initiate the return? Do I log into my Apple account online?

Oh you have to access it actually using the Mac Book? Makes sense because I couldn’t find it and I was using my iPhone.
You can initiate the return from an iPhone as well. It may be easier to download the Apple Store App for your phone.

I don’t see where it says to initiate a return anywhere? I logged into the Apple Store using my Apple ID then I clicked on the MacBook. The only thing I see is “how to return this item” and when I click on that it tells me to take it to an Apple Store? Am I missing something?

from apple store app, click on your profile icon at the upper right corner then click orders.

I forgot wh
I did that’s exactly where I went on my iPhone. I’m going to try on my MacBook later this morning…
i forgot if it is easiest via app or website. If website, yiu might want to make sure youre using desktop version if mobile doesnt work.

For your other question if you no longer want to return, even if you have initiated and printed the shipping label, just keep it. No need to take any action. Now on the labels themselves, I believe they might expire after a week or so. So if you plan to return on the last day, it might be a good idea to print a fresh return label then (you can print as many as you wish afaik). You will be able to print one even on the last day, tho im not sure until what time—perhaps 5pm. So do be careful as that deadline approaches.

If you use this extended method I belueve Apple stores will not take your return, you have to mail it with the printed fedex label that apple provides. (They give you a link to the label and deadline to send by in the email after you initiate the return)

This is on my MacBook and I don’t see anywhere where it says “request a refund?” I’m really confused!

Odd. Try the Chat Now to return by mail. For me the screen gave me the option to print a shipping label. Maybe the education store is different because you have the gift card.

I’ll have to do the Chat Now feature on my 14th day then I guess?
