My unscientific observations since getting my 14" top end Max for a Pro are that battery life is looking quite a bit better on the new laptop. It no longer feels that the laptop won't last for one entire work day.
Sorry for being thick but do you mean you went from a Pro to a Max or vice versa?

I meant to say: since I went from a Max to a Pro. Battery life does, indeed, seem better with the Pro.

can you do another 2 tests please but with low power mode. one with chrome and other with safari

Ok so I tested during a meeting last night and the fans were running at about 2500rpm. I couldnt hear them though and the laptop didn't feel particularly hot. My 2020 MPB used to spin the fans up to about 8,000 rpm and it felt hot so its an improvement. Note i have the 10 core version of the 14 inch MBP
Might want to check activity monitor as I was getting my 14” M1 Pro (base) to heat up with fans during and after a video call but this was due to a memory leak for the “callserviceid” process. I think this happened with FaceTime.

Another call I had later was whisper quiet the entire time and didn’t hear the fans at all and sure enough, there was not a memory leak that time.

TLDR: check for a memory leak in Monterey before assuming it is something taxing the CPU/GPU.

So, the battery finally died on this laptop. Here are my results:
  • 100%: 10/27/21 at 9:28 pm
  • 0% (laptop turned off, can't turn it back on without plugging it back into the charger): 10/28/21 at 12:58 pm
  • total battery life: 15h:30min
Please note:
  • This is the battery life I got when I exclusively used Google Chrome, Slack, and Zoom open on my computer.
I will do another test with Safari set as my default browser and using it exclusively instead of Google Chrome.
15h30 ? holy ****,no one's getting such good results anywhere dude

He counts the time the computer is lid closed sleeping…
Ye I've just seen that afterwards but some people cannot refrain from opening their mouth before reading everything on the topic.i seem to be one of them lol.
Still the battery would be between 7-8 right ?
I'm just tryna compare it with the MBA M1 cuz that's the battery I know about ,however I haven't seen any real life comparisons between the two(for intensive load you'd plug it in anyway)

I was coming from a Windows laptop that had pretty good battery life (around 8ish hours on a full charge) and was super impressed with the 13 MBP/MBA M1 battery numbers. When the 14 was out in the wild I was following a number of threads here and on reddit for batter life. Anecdotally what I am seeing is around 6-9 hours based on usage. Which wasn't that double digit battery life of the older M1 laptops. So I went with the 13 MBP M1 and am getting 10-15 hours depending on usage. Even though the 14 can get 50% in 30 minutes of fast charging, I can get around 35% in 30 minutes which works out to about the same time of battery.

What windows laptop was that ?

Also the MBP M1 is MUCH better than the M1 air,it's not even comparable .
The M1 air:s battery is still very good imho, and I'd the 14 has about the same battery I'd say it's pretty awesome

It was the Zephyrus 14. It was a good laptop but I started using Geforce Now so really didn't need a dedicated gaming laptop. I am still in my return window for the 13 MBP and think about the improvements on the 14 but I think I would regret the battery life.
