I would like to buy a 3rd party 100w chargers for my 14" MBP.

・AUKEY Omnia PA-B5
・Baseus 100W GaN II Fast Charger

Can anyone who has one of these tell me if the magsafe will work?
Any info on other 100W chargers would be great.

I charged the 16 even with the 30w. No problem at all.

I also saw a YouTuber putting his 16 inch to a 30 W charger and it worked just fine as you did. And this is why I’m getting the Apple 67w charger. I don’t need fast charging and I want to keep the heat down on my Batteries as much as possible for longer life.

The Satechi 108W is a great travel charger. I use it with my 16. Gives you a total of 3 charging ports for USB-PD.

The 140W power adapter is quite large. I wonder if you can use third party USB-C charges with the MagSafe cable. I'm hesitant about carrying around and traveling with the 140W power adapter given its size.

You spent thousands of dollars on the thing. Why would you risk third party adapters? Personally, I would just suck it up.

It's just USB-C, not a nuclear weapon.

No, it's the power circuity. We've heard all sorts of hooror stories of people using cheap Chinese third party power adapters for their iPhones and having them start on fire. Maybe unlikely, but why risk it. Better to at least buy an Apple lower power adapter like 96w or 67w and use that.

Anyone who has been fast charging their new m1 mbp, has battery health changed? Mine has gone to 96% from 87W charging but I'm guessing/hoping it will calibrate back to 100%. I also notice that coconut battery and my mac percentage are always different, it says I'm at 88% on my mac but coconut says 83% for the current state of charge.

Just get a properly rated/listed adapter from a reputable manufacturer. The MacBook, iPhone, iPad will survive just fine. The adapter may go, but the receiving end of that power is very smart.

Even Apple messes up their power adapters.

I also don't want to fast charge my new 16 inch. I'm thinking of getting the 67w charger from the base 14" M1 Pro. I just want to confirm that I can use the 67watt charger with mag safe and get regular charging speeds?

My MBP (16 Max) was constantly hard crashing when using the 140W while I was presenting at a conference. I am not sure if it was the Adapter overloading something or not.

Another presenter packed his 100W charger and when I swapped and used my 100W charger that I had as a backup it worked just fine with no crashes.

I also got...

For airplane use (although battery life is night and day to my 2015 MBP and it was great not to worry about charging in flight) but just for fun plugged it in and was surprised how quickly it went from 75% to 100% on a 75W charger (Most airplane seats can only handle up to 75W (some airplane seats sadly share that power load with the entire row) and the circuit will trip if you use a higher wattage adapter and run processes on the Mac that fall into the 75W+ range)

I also got....

To extend the length of the Magsafe cable when needed and have not run into any issues with it. I have not had it long enough to see if attaching an extender will slow down fast charge. My guess is yes. I however have been wrong before.

Very long winded way to say yes. Lower wattage power supplies seem to be working fine. If anything I might be running into issues with the 140W and antiquated infrastructure.

How did the 140W charger work later on at home, for example?

It's been perfect.

I have had it at home TU - SU and have been back home for two days now with zero issue.

It might have been an HDMI issue but that is also something I use all the time at home. The conference HDMI setup was definitely more complex.

I also had attendees sharing the surge protector at times to charge their devices so wonder if that might have been in play.

I am off to another conference this week. I think the rooms will be smaller so will be curious how things go. I am still packing my previous MBP and have my presentations in the cloud in case it continues. I do feel I was in a unique situation but concerned it might happen again. I am hoping it is the 140W because moving to the 100W adapter is a simple solution.

I have an Anker PowerPort Atom PD 4 100w charger. I tested it briefly with the MagSafe cable and it worked. My next business trip, it will be the only charger I bring. We'll see if it gets the job done.

You'll be good... I have that as well and haven't had any issues the last few days.

Just want to report back that after several trips, this power adapter worked without issue to charge my 16" Max with the MagSafe cable.

I have an Anker USB 5 port USB charger and I hooked it up to the MacBook Pro and it does provide power but this thing was only putting out 10 or 12 watts so I think that the laptop battery was draining though just at a slower rate. I suspect that you could use a much smaller charger, Apple or some other reliable brand, to charge it more slowly on trips.

The 16 has incredible battery life so I think that you could just use a 20 or 30 watt charger to charge it overnight in your hotel room and you'd be good to go for the next day or two.

Anyone have the sizes and weights of the Apple power bricks? It looks like they have 140 watts, 97 watts, 30 watts and 67 watts. I will measure the 140 watt and 30 watt PSUs as I have the 140 and someone in the family has the 30. I am also fine charging with the USB-C cable over the MagSafe cable as it saves a cable as I can charge my Beats Fit Pro with the USB-C cable. Still need to bring a Lightning cable though.

30 Watt Charger: 3.82 x 1.26 x 3.82 inches; 5.61 Ounces
67 Watt Charger: 4.17 x 4.17 x 1.19 inches; 9.14 Ounces
97 Watt Charger: 4.88 x 4.88 x 1.22 inches; 12.31 Ounces
140 Watt Charger: 3.78in x 2.96in x 1.13in; 9.77 oz

I got the dimensions of the 140 Watt Charger from a website and I'm not completely sure of it. I can verify it with scale and ruler myself later on. If these are all correct, then the 140 Watt charger is a better choice than the 67 Watt and 97 Watt chargers for size.
