rMBP screen hole issue.

Today when I was studying writing programs. I noticed a small area in my 8 weeks old rMBP, with color dropped. I've seen it with other point of view, thus I noticed that area was a hole. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this case of problem? I remember I have brought a protector plan. Can I send my rMBP to apple to repair it? or change it? advance thanks for information. :)

Call apple, they will know if they can help you or not.

I just return to my home after finished the programming studying. I will take my macbook to apple tomorrow.
However, today I have noticed 2 holes more! Can't just believe that these holes is my fault. It's exactly like the first one. What do you think about this? I'm quite worry now. :(
 
Thought I would add some feedback as to my recent experience.

Had rMBP about 2 months. All was fine until last week.

Mine has now done the same as OPs. Out of nowhere I got a white pixel on the left upper side, looks about 4x4 in pixel size. At first I thought it was dust but it felt like a grain of sand which came away as i moved my finger over it, leaving just the white dot and what looks like a hole in the outer screen coating. the dead pixel is easily noticeable with it being about 4x4 in size.

edit: --- Its just happened again on the right side near the center whilst watching a movie. same description - felt like a grain of sand as if a pixel has popped or something and left its residue on the screen!

So now I have 2 dead 4x4 sized pixels and 5 tiny 1x1 sized ones. This is on an LG screen with IR too.

Taking it into apple on Saturday this is totally crazy!!

Any resolution to this with Apple. I had the same thing happen to me out of the blue. I know for a fact my screen was clean. I just opened up the laptop and it was there. I can catch it with my fingernail, so at first I thought it was something sticky that got splattered on it somehow, but it wouldn't wipe off. It's a tiny little chip/hole. Also, it's an LG display.

Yes, I had my screen replaced with a Samsung.

I found out that some of the new retina screens are prone to "exploding" pixels and I had 2 of them. There is only a coating on the screen instead of glass so the pixel is melting a small hole in it when it goes bad, thats why it can be felt.

They said Apple would most likely examine my screen and investigate why it was happening to them because they have had a quite a few brought in for the same fault.

Im hoping its only LGs that are affected and my new Samsung screen doesnt "go bad" after a few months.

You've got to be kidding me with these retina screen problems...exploding pixels? You couldn't even make that up.

Hi - I noticed the same problem on my Samsung screen. My screen has pixel distortions that are very similar to the previous set of images posted on this thread. And, I also have a bump on the screen where these dead pixels are. This is my third screen - looks like this one will need to be changed as well. This laptop has been nothing but a headache!

Have exact same exploded pixel issue

exploded pixel, middle of the screen, leaves a tiny hole along with what appears as a stuck white pixel. Brought it to the store today and they are repairing it without any hassle. (They had 3 15" retina clamshell parts for the rMBP in stock -- makes me wonder if this is becoming a frequent issue for this display?) I do not know if my display was a LG or Samsung, however the rMPB was purchased ~ mid July.
 
This just happened to me, too. When opening the lid and resuming from standby I noticed a white "dot". Ran my finger over it and it's the same problem. A grid of 4x4 pixels has "exploded"..... Screen is a Samsung and I bought the laptop in October.

No Apple store close to me, so hopefully I can live with it until I can be near one.

These rumors or facts in this case is causing jitters when i open my new rMBP.

crap - I was hoping this "only" affects LG screens. Mine was an LG but got replaced with a Samsung.

I guess that was wishful thinking.
 
I know this thread is somewhat old, but my Samsung screen just experienced this issue, so it doesn't appear to be manufacturer specific.

However, I will say that all replacement display parts are Samsung, because Apple experienced too many return-after-return from image retention which are exhibited by LG displays.
 
my retina samsung replacement screen which was swapped out due to IR issues a month ago just had this. Saw something on the screen that wouldn't wipe off and finally ran my nail over it and could feel something there. Upon closer inspection, there is a very slight crater surrounding it that is barely visible. For a second i thought i might have hit the screen with something but the nick is way too small. Looks like a single stuck pixel that's black on a white screen or a white pixel when my screen is colored black. I was almost going to live with it thinking it was my fault, but it is way too distracting as i am using this for my photography business. I keep thinking there's a speck i need to touch up. Super frustrated right now. Hopefully apple will replace it and replace it quick as i'm leaving for europe in about a week. I have a genius appointment tomorrow.
 
apple replaced the screen no problem. Acted like they never heard of the issue but offered to swap out the display immediately. Replacement is samsung again.
