Apple's just-announced next-generation Apple TV 4K comes in 64GB and 128GB storage options, but only the larger capacity model comes with an Ethernet port and Thread support.

On the previous Apple TV 4K, both the 32GB and 64GB storage options included Ethernet and Thread support. With the smallest capacity third-generation Apple TV 4K now at 64GB and with a new starting price of $129, Apple has removed these two features, which are now exclusive to the 128GB model.

The updated Apple TV 4K model comes with an A15 Bionic chip, support for HDR10+, and an updated Siri Remote. The 128GB model with Wi-Fi and Ethernet configuration costs $149. The new ‌Apple TV‌ 4K is available to order today, with availability beginning Friday, November 4.

We know the NIC was probably $0.15

Just a shameless cash grab... Apple knows anyone with a proper home theater wants this thing on ethernet, so they gate it behind the 128GB upgrade, which almost nobody even needs.
Most users are still home ones with uses mainly Netflix, TV+ and 64GB with Wi-Fi is fine. Ethernet version come with 128GB for nerds like us which uses it for HomeKit, casual gaming / Apps Arcade etc ect.

There should only be one model of Apple TV. Apple’s insistence on segmenting features by storage size, or physical size of iPhones, leads to massive customer confusion and greater development/manufacturing costs. This is even more problematic given that Apple TV has very few compelling reasons (apps) to upgrade to 128 GB storage.

What in the world is thread support?

No ethernet port… really guys? I guess the refurbished Apple TV 4K my family got in 2018 lives on.
Now THAT's what I want to see! A useful storage upgrade and a model that doesn't eliminate a feature with very real use. Glad to see I was mistaken earlier. This is what I'd hoped last year's update had brought.
