Had they added tracking on the Siri remote, like the new Airpods Pro - may have been a reason to upgrade..

The cheaper model is also lighter. Probably getting rid of Ethernet/Thread also allowed them to reduce size of heatsink or power supply.

Amazing people just can't stop complaining about the lack of a single feature that people don't necessarily need and that it's $50 cheaper as a starting price?

Even with the *same* features it's $30 cheaper than the previous Apple TV 4K and you get double the storage...
agreed!

What do people even use the storage space for? I wish it gave me the option to save videos from my local library on my Apple TV. If you don't do games or anything of that nature, is there really any way to use the larger capacity?

No, but it is useful to some 4K tv owners that don’t support DV like Samsung sets. If you own a Panasonic OLED that support both you’ll likely stick with DV over HDR10+. Maybe if you have streaming where only HDR10 and HDR10+ is supported then you would use it, but that I haven’t utilized.

Look at all the models to see which uses what

I've never understood the $20 delta for storage upgrade on the Apple TV. Of all the devices to simplify SKUs...

Now, you want to bring a lower cost option and remove features, sure. But lack of Thread is odd, especially since it'll be the future for home automation and the $99 HomePod mini has included it for the past 2 years.
