I use my current apple tv with wi-fi with 32 gb storage. i see no reason to get the one with thread. i don’t game on it or use it for anything but actual tv.

They should have included Thread support in all models.
Had they added tracking on the Siri remote, like the new Airpods Pro - may have been a reason to upgrade..
Exactly. Since I can do RetroArch on my Xbox Series X now (or Series S), why would I game on the Apple TV at all?
A fair upgrade (not great), 8K output would've been nice for the high end model though.

What do people even use the storage space for? I wish it gave me the option to save videos from my local library on my Apple TV. If you don't do games or anything of that nature, is there really any way to use the larger capacity?

No, but it is useful to some 4K tv owners that don’t support DV like Samsung sets. If you own a Panasonic OLED that support both you’ll likely stick with DV over HDR10+. Maybe if you have streaming where only HDR10 and HDR10+ is supported then you would use it, but that I haven’t utilized.
Wish they sorted the Audio Passthrough finally in the new version, that alone would be huge for me.
ethernet doesn’t really product much heat. only weight difference would be from the chip and the physical port (minuscule)
Actually that isn’t true. It’s the opposite. DV doesn’t really add any noticeable cost to consumer 4K TVs or why would Panasonic support both. Samsung was the principal backer of HDR10+.

The ethernet model is 0.2 ounces heavier so yes it is a very minuscule difference.
I have no interest in this product. I do not even know why it still exist. But reading they removed the ethernet adapter is just…courage.
That iPad also comes with a screen and cameras, while this device doesn't.

I've never understood the $20 delta for storage upgrade on the Apple TV. Of all the devices to simplify SKUs...
Now, you want to bring a lower cost option and remove features, sure. But lack of Thread is odd, especially since it'll be the future for home automation and the $99 HomePod mini has included it for the past 2 years.
