Hello,
I purchased a Mac Studio earlier this year. It came with Sequoia 15.3. Ive never updated since I got it for many of the reasons stated in this thread, but additionally I got it set up to run Logic Pro and some 3rd party software, with the view of getting everything stable and leaving as is. Updating to Tahoe is a no no for me. I dont use the computer online except to update Logic or music software.

That said, Im thinking now, Id like to get the latest version of Sequoia.

I have Automatic updates turned OFF. Would Tahoe still download and install on its own regardless of this setting as soon as I go online?

Thanks for any comments.

No it won't install on its own. Even if you start the download by mistake, the Software Update panel will clearly say what's going on, so you can stop it.

Just disable automatic updates and automatic updates download, and install the updates you want.

Thankyou for your response. Are you saying I can still update Sequoia but not have Takoe forced on me? If Ive understood this thread, and the other like it (about deferring for 90 days) thats only possible if Ive installed those things they say to install. I haven't done that yet.

If you don't want 26, go to System Settings, then Software Update. Look at the Also Available and select the 'Circle I' information button. Unselect Safari and unselect Tahoe 26.x, Select Sequoia, it should be there. Now do a manual update.

After the update, make sure the AI, Siri, and Automatic Updates are turned off, if you don't want any of those.

This is just so unacceptable that Apple does this.

There is a VERY dark pattern on the Sequoia 15.7.3 update panel.

They make it look very clearly like you are updating (tonight or now) to 15.7.3, but when you click on the little "i" icon for more information about the update you are about to install (or agree to install tonight), they've actually selected the Tahoe upgrade.

I just find this to be abhorrent behavior on the part of Apple.

They are flat out lying to you on the main page and you only discover it if you dig in for more information.

This company has become rotten to the core.

I go back to the beginning
What's with this "dark pattern"
Call it for what it is.
Its a DIRTY TRICK
"dark pattern" sounds like an euphemism some nerdboy made up.
