Based on the price cards displayed at my local Apple store, they only list three models of 15inch MBP's and the last one is a hi-res non glare model (i7 model). It seems to me that the stores are not going to sell the hi-res glossy model. Of course they didn't have any of the hi-res non glare models in stock yet, but it is listed with a price.

I went to the Apple store in the Bridgewater NJ mall and they had the 15" Regular, 15" AntiGlare, 17" HD and 17" Antiglare HD but no 15" HD Glossy. They said they aren't initially stocking that model.

Did they have a 15" antiglare on display? If so, how did it look?

The did not have the 15" anti-glare on display. I saw the 17" anti-glare and did not like the silver bezel and the overall finish of the anti-glare on the 17". The apple employee mentioned something about the Glossy offering more protection than the anti-glare but I was hoping to see the HD 15" Glossy. Whether they really had the 15" anti-glare or not, I don't know, but he said they stocked all except for the one I was interested in.

In MD I can vouch for the fact that the Annapolis store carries the 15" high-res antiglare (though they are currently out of stock). As of 1:30pm the Bethesda Row store had them as well. As far as I know, no other store in MD or VA has this model.

Did the 15" hi-res look that much nicer?

The store in my area in NJ is frustrating me. I just called, asked if they had any 15" hi-res, and she says "Yes, they are all hi-res". When I told her that she was wrong she tried to argue with me.. needless to say she lost that fight. Its annoying that we all seem to know more that most Apple employees..

I already bought a 2.53 with the regular screen and am tired of stressing over whether I made the wrong decision. I have even considered just going with the 17" standard config.

I think I am just going to keep this one and put the extra money toward a desktop monitor at some point down the road...

I was going to get the 15" hi-res but after doing the calculations the 17" i5 was the better deal. You get a higher resolution screen and twice the VRAM for only a couple hundred more. Totally worth it.

sounds like retail stores only have the high end i7 in antiglare. Going from base to mid model is (imo) a waste of money but base to the high end (i5->i7, 320gb->500 which you get with the mid too, and 256 vram to 512 which i dont need might be worth it for a piece of mind) I'm so anxious, and don't really need the extra power, but it would be nice so I might jump the gun on it. I've waited so long I just want to have a computer in my possession -- it's hurting my school work and annoying.

To be determined. What are you guys going to do?

I don't want to wait if I order online for it to build, process, and ship for the base. ugh.

I think what I really need to do is stop reading this forum!!

I thought that the 17" was a better value, I am just not sure if I really want something that big..

I've had 'em all man. 12", 13", 15", 17". There is something about the 17" that really puts it above the rest. It is a little bit bigger but for it being a 17" notebook it's really not that bad. Carrying it is really not an issue. I put it in my backpack and bring it with me to work on my motorcycle.

It appears that the high-res antiglare will not be available in store in the US.

Florida Mall in Orlando had the anti-glare 15" HR in stock. They did not have Glossy HR in stock.

I would have bought the glossy. I can't seem to get passed the way the anti-glare looks so I'll wait til next week to get mine.

Toronto doesn't have the 15" antiglare yet. And considering the previous-gen model I picked up there last week was made in October '09, I fear it's not a popular option there.

There goes my chance of exchanging it :(

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have some more info.

The Apple Store in Fairview Mall, Toronto, does (or did - I bought one) stock the 15" high-res antiglare (only in the i7 model). Funnily enough, they didn't have it on display! They still have the C2D model on display. When I arrived there someone had already brought up the model information on screen, and there was no doubt: it said C2D.

Luckily they did inform me correctly over the phone (even though one employee I spoke with imagined that the standard-res came in antiglare too...), and within 10 minutes I had exchanged my C2D for the i7 with high-res goodness :D

Towson mall has the 15" AG HD TOp-line i7. Columbia does not.

Just an aside...it really surprises me that Apple stores don't offer an in-store inventory availability feature on the website. Almost all major electronics/computing retailers offer that now, even crappy Best Buy and Circuit City before them. Apple stores have handheld Point of Sale goodness...but no inventory availability on the website. Go figure.

They have done that for iphone launches, not sure why they dont either.

Would eliminate my calling :)

Because in a few weeks, they'll ALWAYS have stock of Macs.

I was just at the Marina Store in SF and they certainly had them on display, I'm not sure if they were in stock but I certainly would assume so. They had numerous BTO options on the floor including a 17" i7 antiglare model

Stock levels

They also wouldn't want all the analysts to have that kind of visibility of their merchandise.

Picked up a 15" 2.66 AG Hi res in Denver (just came in today)

No i5 hi res's there, the rep told me they are only selling the i7 AG hi res in store and the 17" hi res AG ."

Be careful when you go to the store, some of them have the OLD 2009 Anti Glare 15's out. Thats what they had at the store here in Denver.
