Any sleep problem after downgraded to SL? Is it really to do with non-Apple ram or Lion? I'm so confused. :(
My hibernation and standby sleep problem was not solved with installing SL so it does not appear to be a Lion problem persay. So the memory was just not compatible enough even though a memtest indicated no error. Since I already made someone else happy with my original memory set, I decided to buy some other brand.
This time I chose Kingston. It gave some better results. I can wake up now from standby without crash. I will sleep my MBP overnight and see what happens.
But from hibernation, it's still 3 beeps. This suggests I need to run a memory tester that writes it all then make it sleep and then verify the whole.
Also need to test the disk access... I don't know how Apple checks the sleepimage loading... calculate checksum from disk only or write and read memory before that.
Compatibility becomes more and more of an issue when memory speed/density rises. We've seen that with SD cards and now with DDR3 RAM.

Non-Apple RAM OK until recent firmware update

My non-Apple RAM worked perfectly until the first of the 2 recent firmware updates apple has pushed out. Hopefully they didn't intentionally break it. I guess I can live with it, but it was soooo nice before.

Try resetting SMC

I also have non-Apple RAM, and I started having this problem immediately after the recent MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.5. Resetting the SMC fixed it.
