My LG 15" rMBP screen was replaced because it was marked by my trackpad (yours maybe too inspect it) the replacement is a yellow samsung - it's horrible for photoshop and final cut and everything really and I'll have Apple replace it this week, I'll probably get a Samsung back (all replacement screens are samsung) unless you buy new again in which case it'll be an LG, if so I'll get my (6 month old) BTO rMPB retina cost back in full and buy again new so I get an LG.

No the "samsung piss-yellow colour cast" cannot be calibrated to an LG white point, so if you have an LG hang on to it unless you really do have that ghosting issue.

Unless you got a faulty Samsung, you can indeed recalibrate to get rid of the yellowish color. Check on the archives, there is a few people who had posted their calibration files.

Actually calibration does nothing for an unevenly tinted display. My LG screen is piss-dirty-yellow at left bottom (but also a little bit at right) and pleasing at the top portion. The p.i.t.a. is the non-uniformity. If it was uniform, you could theoretically turn a yellow cast into a blueish cast.
