I'm sure we'd hear of more new owners had most people kept the stock config. of the 2.0 ghz model instead of upgrading the hard drive, ram, or processor. Oddly enough, most everyone I've read about here has upgraded something so they're not getting a stock 2.0 while those who probably did go stock arn't really looming around such boards and/or living in PA or one of those cities that get deliveries today. Maybe we're too high-end for our own good, we need to see what happened to all those other stock 2.0 machines in PA and any other areas cause I doubt there was just one (no offense elguido) on that whole shipment that got delivered, I find it very hard to believe... Where you others hiding?;)

Edit: Either that or the other's are so entranced and occupied with there new and amazing computers that they haven't made it around to these boards and messaging yet, but I'm hoping later tonight before bed we get some more news and hopefully from other's then elguido so he can take a break and doesn't have to do all the work and answer all our questions. But thanks elguido for being so patient about it so far!

I ordered a stock 1.83 (now 2.0) MBP the day it was announced.... with two day shipping!

My scheduled delivery date is Wed, 2/22/06 at 10:30 AM...

no changes, no BTOs, no addons, nadda..... I am bumming!

El Guido, can I come over and play with it? ; ) No, seriously, I live in Fairmount.

Congrats on getting it so early. If I see a dude with a big grin walking down the street I'll know it is you. Where do you go to school?

Not at you but rather at myself, for I would have said the exact same thing!

Two reasons I can think of for this:
1) you ordered later then elguido time wise, did you order right after the store went back online post-keynote?
2) you live in NC and not PA, if that's the case - don't you wish you lived in PA today? J/K, sorry to hear that though - keep bummin' but hope for tomorrow, you never know:)

I ordered with a HD upgrade to the 7200rpm(1,83-->2.0). I skipped the ram upgrade , but did order a 1G RAm from 18004memory for $139, I also just got an email reciept from Apple for $16 for the 2nd day shipping upgrade? Weird since the upgrade is suppsed to be $15....(1.16 tax, lol)

this'll probably just make you mad, but if you go to www.dealram.com and search for the MacBook Pro RAM and go to 18004memory through there, you can get it for $105... I did :)

Exactly, but had they had a 120 GB 7200 rpm drive for a little bit more - I probably would've swung for it... Maybe they will, but by that time the 5400 rpm drive will be a whopping 160 GB and I'd probably go with 40 GB of extra over the speed increase in that instance... Maybe...

How much of a difference does the extra speed make? And in what kind of applications would you notice it?

for everyday use, you most likely won't notice a difference, maybe slightly faster application launching, but nothing major. It would mainly make a difference when doing things that require fast access to data on the hard drive... maybe something like audio/video encoding, 3D rendering, etc.

wow, awesome! I never get in on price mistakes like that

Sorry, but I can't believe this dude. Look at the pics of the MacBook box compared to the ones posted the other day. This box is not as thin, plus there are no pictures on the sides. Am i buggin out or is this just a gross oversight on the part of overzealous mac owners....(myself included:) ). This guy has no freakin MacBook!!

That said, $105 is a great regular price. Much better than Crucial or eBay (are those eBay sellers thinking we're stupid???).

It looks just as thin to me.... it'd be hard to fake those pictures and have them turn out looking that untouched....
