Ouch ... Hopefully you'll get it sooner. Also, hopefully when the Macbook/iBook is announced, the shipping times won't be two years. While I'd love to shell out $2500 on my ideal MBP configuration, I'm more in the market for the MB.

edit - Although, great reviews on performance and battery life may sway me ... Or, I could spend $1000 less and get the 2.0 GHz iMac ... decisions decisions

what's the deal?

What's the deal with all that negative votes on this thread?.... Somebody please explain why people are so unhappy.

I'm guessing its a number of factors:

1.) It's taken this long to finally ship, so people are upset.
2.) People may think, as they put it, "it's the end of an era."
3.) They may have clicked the wrong button.

Who knows. I voted positive. :)

Has there ever been thread that got zero neg votes? I just think some people are just set on pushing the neg vote...But thats just me.

To the nay-sayers.

You're all very very ba- well, less than perfect people...to put it lightly.

That actually was taken in the bathroom mirror, as was previously suggested jokingly in this forum.

Well i'm all set up to go to the Apple Store Thursday and pick mine up :). Got the bank account all nice and ready to go :). :D

*Now for the legendary Texas chant*
YEEEEEEEHA! :D

I had a question regarding the shipment announcement. When people received an email notice that there MBP shipped did they get it in the morning. China is like 14 hours ahead of Cental time so i would asume i would receive a message in the morning when i wake up. Is this right. To answer the question why people are upset here it goes.

I ordered a 1.67 at 10:51 PST on Jan 10th and my CC hasn't even been charged. People that ordered the 1.83 --> 2.0 a few days after the keynote have already received a shipping notice. That pissed me off a bit but hey life goes on. Now the top end MBP 2.16 or something was announced last week and the people that placed orders for it already have it shipping. Now that makes me furious. I orded mine well over a month ago and some dude orders theres last week and get a shipping notice. Well thats a bunch of crap. So theres why I would like to reevaluate my vote and give it a neg.

You have my sincere apology man. I guess somewhere deep down inside I was fuming that you got your MacBook and mine hasn't even shipped. Sorry for the accusatory tone.:( :)

There is probably just a supply problem with the 1.83 or with some of the parts.... who knows if it's the processor, 80GB hard drive, whatever... I think that the people who ordered their 2.16 last week and are getting theirs now are few and far between... the few lucky enough to order first thing in the morning when they announced the upgrade.

you'll get your MBP

I certainly hope a few bad "apples" haven't given you the wrong impression. Most of us appreciate your feedback and are looking forward to your thoughts on the laptop.

Thanks, and good job having restraint in not bashing back. Let us know how you like it. You may be responsible for me spending money on one!

To Elguido:
Lol i wasnt joking about the bathroom thing  :D
Haha. Thanks though! Again thank you for not bashing back on some of the impoliteness that you have encountered. Welcome to Macforums :)

Battery life???? Anybody. Please. Unpackaging POV porn is all well and good, but not one person has answered the mysterious battery question. ElGuido, for the record, I never doubted you. Can you tell us what the battery monitor says when you disconnect the power supply? How many hours does it estimate you have on the battery?

Around Page 9 or So...... look there.

Edit: Found it :)

It says 3:31, with Normal consumption settings.

I don't even know how to post pics, but i'd be happy to do so at some point. I havent tried connecting a camera or anything of that nature yet...keep in mind i JUST got this computer.

P.S.: The machine, packaging...gorgeous. It's very fast, warm on the sides of the keyboard, but not too hot. Display is incredible. This is my first mac, so i'm figuring out OSX. Give me some time.

its a lithium polymer. It has to get a few cycles before battery is optimized.

Good point, also Normal Power probably meant the Processer was running at full speed (if need be) and the screen brightness was not as far down as it could have been. So I would say a good 5 or so hours once all of that is done, probably just ichatting or somthin like that. No Airport, no bluetooth.. that kinda stuff.
