A whole pound is "infinitely more portable"? Really? You need to go to the gym, my friend. :)

Seriously, the price difference is extraordinary. I guess it depends on what is most important to the user in question.

Can the new non-retina MBP be end user upgraded (hard drive and RAM)? The HD size on the non-retina is much more useful.

I have the 13" MBP from 2011.

I'm a thin, gay, twink and my small frame can't handle the extra pound.

The Retina Pro is a pound lighter, 25% thinner, and something like 38% less in volume. That's a drastic change in portability. You're just butthurt that Apple is moving into the future and doing away with upgradability. It's an amazing computer.

Butthurt? :)

No - I was just trying to point out that there were other options than the Retina version.

You may return to rubbing that Retina pro all over your body. :)

(not meant to be an insulting post)

Extended AppleCare A Must...

Even more than regular portable Macs...

Repairs are likely going to be expensive, with minimal user-replacement options. iFixIt calls it the least repairable portable computer they've seen.

So figure AppleCare into the purchase price.
