What would be the argument to claim for a replacement ? Do I have to prove the issue / show the service guy the problem? There are no Apple stores in Puerto Rico, but there are a few authorized resellers (once sent my Ipad 2 under warranty through one of them). It does not bother me so far and have the 3 year Apple Care on the machine; should I really do it inmediately?

I don't know how the authorized store would handle it, so I can't really help you. You need to claim that you have IR and it bothers you. They would run the check board test and see that you do have IR and should exchange the display. However, authorized stores are more difficult to handle (usually), so they can decline your claim. The only concern on your side is what displays would be available when your IR would develop to a state when you would not be able to work on it anymore. It takes about 3 months to develop severe IR, so you can wait and see what would happen.
