You can get a matte screen on the non-retina. This alone makes it leaps better than retina.

same **** if you ask me.

Don't go 17", its too heavy and significantly slower than the retina model...

well that, and they don't make them anymore...

I am not buying it but the agency is buying one for me they asked me if I wanted a 17" MBP or retina MBP. So I haven't decided about rMBP until now. I did not ask them about 8GB or 16GB and I did not ask how do they order it for me because that is their money to spend on. I don't feel comfortable telling them what I want or need more memory. :apple:

17" is off the market for a while now.

Go with the classic MacBook Pro at least with those you can go past 1TB for storage, it beats always taking an external harddrive with you just to run those big programs.

yeah, with 70mb/s as opposed to 0.7TB 500mb/s.

you can't get 768GB internal SSD drive for cMBP yet.

I have trouble deciding which one to get. I am a digital artist with photoshop and light video editing with FCPX and iMovie. I suppose 8GB ram is enough and I understand I can't upgrade to 16GB in the future, right? That sucks. If I want to upgrade ssd and ram, I would go with cmbp. rmbp is very tempting for me but will rmbp with 8gb will do for photoshop and FCPX?

I don't know what to do. :( Money is not an issue. :apple:

Remember even with 8GB if it pages out to disk, it will be to the speedy SSDso you may not notice it as much. Since there is no "17" cMBP anymore, you may ask them to clarify which models they would be buying. Perhaps they had the 16GB rMBP in mind.

The retina display has been on the market for several years now and many people have had experience with it in the form of iPhone 4/4S/5, iPad3/4, and the rMBP. I am still shocked some people still regard it as unimportant.

I want those pixels gone! I don't want visible pixels on my phone, computer, tablet, tvs, projectors, or camera LCD.

When the LCDs became popular I missed the old CRTs. They had points. Much smoother. But they were heavy and needed boatloads of electricity.

Thank you guys. I asked the agency and they told me they will look for the best deal on rmbp so it takes time for them to find one.
On my 2007 MBP with 160gb SSD and 4GB memory I opened photoshop and final cut x I have about 2.60GB free so I think 8GB is enuff for me. I do have Seagate ultra portable hd with 3.0 USB for TC and storage. :apple:

I like your sig...

Though after listening to people for 35 years I think it might just be a blessing not to be able to hear them. Remember think positive, there is always plus side to everything.

Thank you..... :apple:
