Just another update. I completely formatted the drive and did a clean install of the OS. I am still continuing to have issues, so I went back to the genius bar the other day and he ran the hardware test which passed.

This time I had videos of the problems I was having since the issues couldn't be reproduced on demand. However the genius said he could look at the videos but they would not be considered evidence as it could have been anyone's laptop. This genius was actually the same one I dealt with previously but yet there was no record I had an appointment before or any notes or anything that could be found. I even had the confirmation email from my previous appointment. Once again they refuse to do anything without the issues being able to be reproduced and claims the issues are "software". While that could be true from my point of view its not my problem either way. I paid almost $3K for this laptop and I shouldn't be having this issues on a daily basis.

Once again I left with nothing being done, genius didn't even help me with the Time Machine backup issue I was having. I called AppleCare and they insisted I take it to an "Authorized Apple Service Center" since Apple Retail store wasn't helping, which really I don't feel comfortable doing seeing as I know this service center has a lot of kids working there doing repairs.

I'm extremely frustrated about the way this Apple store is handling things. And now I am noticing IR, I ran the test and it clearly shows IR.

I have the same machine and first its not almost $3000 unless of corse you over paid second I would make another genus appt. and insist that your issues are resolved

If i got the service you did, i'd be pissed too. Crazy since apple is known for having such great customer service. Especially after seeing the videos, it's obvious your issues are real. The "but it could be anybody's laptop in the video" bs: why would you fake having a problem with your laptop if (as they say) it's perfectly fine? Makes no sense.

This makes me nervous. I was about to switch up from my 13inch old school pro to a retina mac but now...man i don't wanna pay 3 grand for something that might have issues. I know anything can have issues, but you know what i mean. I don't want a headache.

In the future I'm going to start including the SN in the video so that there is no doubt as to who's machine it is.

I knew before I bought the rMBP that it was known for IR issues, which I can deal with. But issues like I've been having just get to be annoying. I always thought apple was great as far as customer service, but ever since I got this macbook I've been very disappointed. As I told the genius, I just want the machine to function as it should. Regardless if its software or hardware they should fix it. It seems like if they think it's software that I'm just suppose to deal with it. Every time I've been to the genius bar they have sent me home with no solutions to my problems. Each time they send me home to call Apple care.
