I choose 17"

I have owned a 15" matte 24.Ghz and a 17" glossy 2.4GHz MBPs that the same time. I choose to keep the 17" and give the 15" to my daughter. The reason is the size of the screen is better suited for the things that I do. I carry this laptop (along with a MBA and a Toshiba R100) to work daily in a roll-around Tagus bag. The 17" MBP is my main work machine, the MBA is an ego machine that I take into long meetings, and the Toshiba is my presentation machine.

If possible, visit an Apple Store and compare them side by side yourself
Nobody's experience on the board will be the same as yours so it will just be their opinion

Both are great machines and you can't go wrong with either one
Just decide on what is most important to you and pull the trigger

Enjoy whatever choice you make
Pretty much sums up my comments.

I would add that the 15, due to it's smaller size, is probably a bit more durable if you transport your laptop a lot.

But other than that, they are both great machines.

Cost wise, of course the 15 inch is cheaper. With the funds saved, you could purchase more RAM and a HD upgrade, and some other items.

Since I'm comparing both to the MBP--the 8600M GT.

The GPU on the MBP is same size as a standard 8600 GT, just possibilty more aggressive power management. I have a 8600 GT on my desktop and the performance is very close between the two.

How do you compare the two then?

Are you comparing the 15" laptop on a 15" screen ?? or is it on an external.

Im thinking about 15" now....even though i wont use it on the go i will need it to take it places.

I'd just like the point out that the 17" will be no noticeably faster than the 15" in anything, even games. If you're only worried about performance, stick with the 15"- and the cheapest model will be fine.

go for the 15" ive had a 17" and a 15" MBP - its better (smaller and as fast.) and the comment from above saying you can save money or get ram lcd upgrade is sound.

i'd defo go for the high end 15" if i do.

Thanks for the advice! since there is no difference in performance of the two.....will go for 15" ;)

Why would you go for the high-end 15" for another $500 or so if there's no performance difference.... the only diff is HDD size and an extra 256 MB VRAM- worthless at resolutions of 1440x900.
