I'm still waiting for the powerbook update and to be honest I'm getting REALLY pist of waiting!!!!
I'm a college student, I'm studying to become an ingeneer, so I really need a mac that's strong, portable and doesn't crash on me. But I'm getting far behind on schedual because I don't have a desent computer and can't to my maple or mathematica or autocad exercises.
so.. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THESE MAC IDIOTS ARE PLANNING ON RELEASING THESE NEW PB'S?????
IF THEY DON'T COME OUT WITHIN A MONTH THEN I HAVE CHOICE BUT TO BUY THE PRESENT PB

so what is wrong with the current PB? does all that.

Also, nobody is forcing you to buy a Mac, buy a PC if you are going to be happier

Also there is no Autocad for Mac (there are many CAD programs but not Autocad by Autodesk at least the last time I checked).

I know engineers that use current and older Macs...you don't need the next mac to do it and after the next mac there will be another next mac, so you could wait forever.

Based on your 12 posts about new PBs, you are waiting at least 3 months already for PB update.
Just to let you know, any update to PB will be incremental (10-20% improvement in performance tops for applications like Mathematica) unless you are willing to wait another year for Intel Macs. On top of that, I don't think Autocad is available for Mac.

Wow. I thought you just made up a number..

no, it's really 12 posts about PowerBooks..
12/12 posts...

If you need a PB now, get it now! if it gets updated, oh well, who cares? It won't be huge performance, and there's the 14 day price protection thing.

The next powerbook may only be a minor speed bump G4, and or a new intel.

Either way, I don't think it will be THAT drastic of a speed bump when compared to the current line. If I didn't need a Powermac (well I really don't) I would have a new (current) Powerbook.

Hey..we should get together. I am studying to be an outgeneer!!

The thing that we need for certain is that he/she is angry. Hopefully now feeling better after the vent.

Actually it is not next Tuesday this time. It is Next Wednesday. October 12 to be precise.

Persinalee, i lyke the cahment abowt how the lak of a laptawp is makeing him fahl beehynd en skool...

Doesn't your school have computer labs or are they too busy investing in the improvement of the English department? Doesn't take an ingeneer to figure out that there are other options...

Edit: This old rant came to mind...

If the first 11 didn't do it... :p

I know how you feel. I need a new PowerMac. But chill, it'll happen when it happens. Patience is virtue. Then again, I'm using Windows right now at work, so I think I can relate to why you're so itchy to upgrade.

Wouldn't that be funny if there was like a 3 month wait on new machines.

Tomorrow is not, and never has been, spelled with an A. Please pass that on, no one seems to realize it.
