I'm a dijitel arteest and I yuse my Powerbook for doing lots of art. :p

I hear word a new Powerbook is due in 2006 perhaps and apparently it will have an intel chip inside. Of course for all those people waiting for minor speed bumps now the intel will probably not be faster enough either. So they'll wait for them to be updated, and wait for the updated to be updated and wait for the updated updated to be updated.... I somehow feel these people will never own a powerbook poor sods.

ok so Idont get it. I meet all these people who have never used Macs much except places they have gone and they've had to and I swear their all iMacs from 7 years ago (seems like everybody has those) and they all say Macs crash...

Knock on wood, ive never ever had my Mac crash?

In those iMacs there where cheap harddrives built in. They weren't really reliable. Heard that a lot back in the days.

I'm not going to be as mean as the other posts here, and il be breif.

1. your wait will be worth it in one week if the rumors are true,
2. i have waited for an ibook update since last October, and i finally got what i am waiting for. i know your pain, but it's life.
3. You are not stupid just because of some careless typo mistake ;)
4. if you can, just wait a bit longer. it's not as big as windoze Vista's delay. it's like delayed one entire year compared to a couple of months from apple. actually, they technically never delayed. they won't announce a date and push it to another decade :D.

If you need it so bad, then buy it. If you can wait, then wait, but don't blame Apple for this, it will be out when it's ready, so if you're that far behind, my only recommendation is to buy it right away.

wow, to be honest, this post has been velly velly intellesting ! I come from belgium in case you were wondering why an engineer( how about that, I actually looked this up for you guys!) could make so many language mistakes.

Don't misunderstand our teasing, I'm sure it was all meant in good humour. However you have posted this type of question 12 times over so it does tend towards criticism.

Natives

Heya,

Don't let the teasing get you too much. Those who have English as their second language tend to write it better than native speakers, which makes it tough to tell who's ESL and who's a native speaker. The goal is to bother the native speakers until they actually attempt to take some pride in their own writing.

And, hey - speaking of Americans - I once had a student come to my office to fill out a graduation application. He was an American Studies major. As he began filling out the form, he paused and asked, "how do you spell American?"

I almost took the grad app away from him. :)

Now, let's all pray to our various gods for a Powerbook G5! ;)

Just buy it already. It is not like the new PB is going to come with a dual 3.0GHZ, 300 GB hard drive, 5GB RAM. Any updates are going to be minor and nothing to get excited about.

I am a firm believer that you need to be able to spell your career choice.
Didn't you hear, engineers have trouble with english.

It's the math that is important, not the directions.

Of course he could be studying to become an native american train conductor. ;)

I hope OP is taking this in jest. I wasn't trying to be mean. Bad spelling is just a huge pet peeve on mine especially in a forum like this.

Anywho...If you need a new one, but it and get over the fact that it will be superseeded with a new model sooner or later.

Personally I hope the Powerbooks come out with a 2% speed increase, 1GB more hard drive space, same ram, and the price is decreased by 5 bucks. Instant Karma.

I'm curious.
You say you didn't WANT to be mean, but in fact were.
Also, you pet peeve is indicative of a perfectionist that's bothered by the most minute details... a missed period, a reveresed "i-e" combo, etc. God forbid someone say "MAC".

Both of these maladies can be cured.
I use Paxil.
Consider it.

(I left out the "r" in the second sentence on purpose just to feed your illness. I didn't mean to be mean.)

:)

Is there a mac version of AutoCAD? I didn't think there was. You'd better make sure, before you spend $$$$s on a computer you can't use.

I hope you don't need math in your profession cause your counting is a bit off...

I'm still waiting for the powerbook update and to be honest I'm getting REALLY pist of waiting!!!!
I'm a college student, I'm studying to become an ingeneer, so I really need a mac that's strong, portable and doesn't crash on me. But I'm getting far behind on schedual because I don't have a desent computer and can't to my maple or mathematica or autocad exercises.
so.. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THESE MAC IDIOTS ARE PLANNING ON RELEASING THESE NEW PB'S?????
IF THEY DON'T COME OUT WITHIN A MONTH THEN I HAVE CHOICE BUT TO BUY THE PRESENT PB

On October 12, 2005, Steve will announce a G5 PowerBook.

TRUST ME!

I think the reason I almost jumped on the teasing wagon (until I read the whole thread) isn't so much the errors, but the tone. It's basically the same as if SOMEONE TYPES THEIR ENTIRE POST IN CAPITAL LETTERS!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a little annoying. And, beating the same old drum over and over (I want new PBs) makes it pretty much a moot grievance, the powerbooks will come out when they do, and there will be those who are glad about it and those who complain that it was not 'enough' of an upgrade.
So really posting a topic calling the folks at Apple idiots because they aren't moving fast enough for you to have a newly upgraded machine really makes me wonder if you understand how the world works.
My intention here isn't to be a flamer, I'm just trying to reasonably respond as to why you really can't complain about the response you got to your post.

When I was in engineering school, our secretary (who had a degree in english) posted a far-side-like comic of an oafy gentleman with the following caption:

"Four years ago I couldn't even spell injunear, now I are one!"

I thought that was funny until now.

Good to know, and good luck in hunting / waiting :) .

For the record I didn't tease you at all, I understand that not EVERYONE on Macrumors is native at English speaking. I grew up having family members speaking multiple languages and sometimes screw up English on here too. Like you I take it well when someone corrects me, I just learn and move on.

Just ignore my "Phrases that annoy people" thread, I just posted it so people could vent / laugh. :)

Take care!
