Here's the DVDs I cannot live without, well you get it:
1. Y Tu Mamá También
The lives of Julio and Tenoch, like those of seventeen-year old boys everywhere, are ruled by raging hormones, intense friendships, and a headlong rush into adulthood. Not only a sexy movie, but intelligent too. Compares and contrasts the difference between the ultrawealthy and poor of Mexico.
2. Dirt (2003)
Dolores is a Salvadorean illegal immigrant working as a housemaid in New York City. Under the constant fear of likely deportation. Filmed in NYC and Metapan, El Salvador.
3. Amores Perros
Filmed entirely in Mexico City. If want to see Mexico City this is the movie.
A horrific car accident connects three stories, each involving characters dealing with loss, regret, and life's harsh realities, all in the name of love. Three different stories in today's Mexico mix with very few common elements. The characters belong to different social categories, and nothing connects them at first sight, excepting the feeling of un-happiness, and - yes - dogs. Dogs play an important role in all three stories.
4. Donnie Darko
Wake up, I've been watching you. Come closer. The world is going to end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds.
Pay close attention, you might miss something. Most people have too watch this movie twice to comprehend.
5. Bossa Nova
In this tumultuous love merry-go-round, with funny cultural and linguistic mishaps, love is the big winner, as well as Rio de Janeiro's stunning landscapes, to the tune of Bossa Nova.
6. Motorcycle Diaries
Let the world change you, and you can change the world. The story of Che's journey through South America.
