American Beauty
The Talented Mr. Ripley

There's more, but I can't think of them right now. I love movies.

I find it interesting to see how many people have specifically indicated they really liked the first Matrix, but not the sequels (I was one of them too). Glad to see I'm not alone in that opinion.

I liked the second one, but wouldn't put it on my list. The third one was just a letdown, it was so obvious the Wachowski brothers were running out of ideas, it just fell limp and stale. Yawn.

Reloaded was great as far as action flicks go, but it really seemed to be too focused on the action and not enough on advancing the story line. That's why I loved The Matrix - the story and premise was so unique and had so much potential - yet Reloaded simply did not capitalize on all that potential, and instead opted out for an action flick. Yes, as an action movie I loved Reloaded, it was fun and had great special effects, but as part of the trilogy, it didn't cut it. That was another reason I liked the original - it wasn't an action movie, some people don't realize that. Not until the end was there really a lot of action, it was more story-based. The second movie was just the opposite in my opinion.

Anyway... :cool:

ok some more-popular films I liked;
War of the Worlds the original one that is. still scares me a little.
Shawshank Redemption I got this for an extra £3 when bought with Metroid Prime 1 years ago. strange combination you might say, but they are both classics.
Twister One of those films I can watch over and over. I've seen it 3 times now; which is a lot for me!
Italian Job the original. I do NOT understand why the hell they remade this, forget sounding like an old fart but the new film is just crap compared to the original. One of the best films I've seen.
Land Before Time 1 Film for my childhood. I saw it last summer for nostalgia's sake. smashing film.

probably some more. their time will come...
