My expectations are not too high by any means, my early 2011 as well as my late 2008 MBP's have uniform screens, albeit non-retinas. There are Windows laptops out there with perfectly uniform lighted screens also (not that I am going down that path ever again) - so it is possible. The problem is Apple's shoddy quality control, or perhaps a problem with the retina screens in general.

My 2013, and 2014, my neighbor's 2013 and both daughter's 2013s and my spouse's 2012 all have just as uniform a screen as my old 2008 MBP model.

Are you sure your eyes are not uniform :)

In any rate do you see any difference in retina screen quality 2012 - 2014? If not then I'm just saying the discussion/comment is off topic.

To be honest, i just don't think you are seeing it. Try looking at your screen(s) in a dark room with a black background on your computer and you'll see - unless of course you have a serious eye problem :)

Attached is a picture of the screen of one of the Retinas I sent back.

I don't have the comparison to the 2014 model yet, but will be sure to let you know.

Apple Sting

Well this sucks. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my late 2013 MBp 15" (base model). However, having only 8gb ram when, just a couple months later (today), they bump up to 16gb ram stings just a bit. Never the less, regardless what ya go with, the next model refresh will leave ya wanting.

Man that's bad feeling. Sorry, I know it sucks.

Well, I've been saving up and holding out until October but didn't want to wait any longer. Bought 15 inch rMBP last week, 3 days before the 16GB refresh. I bought it online from a 3rd party vendor. How's that for a sting eh? I at least purchased mine with 16 GB (upgrade).

Turns out, I still made out spending less than if I were to buy the 16 GB refresh model. And like you say, the next model will leave you wanting more. That's why I pulled the trigger, to keep myself from stagnantly waiting for the next model.

To OP, I just bought this 15 inch to replace my 6 yr old MBP. I have no issues here. Very happy with the upgrade.
