I'm glad I chose the 64gb since the iPhone is something I take everywhere with me.

When I had an iPad I only chose 16 because it was used more around the house.

Whereas with my iPhone I added 15 movies, and 2 seasons of tv shows, along with a bunch of apps, photos, etc and I have 19gb free right now out of the 64. It's nice to have a library of viewing content when you're suddenly stuck somewhere (or on the nyc subway).

The same argument woucl be applied to the hard drive on your desktop. Why keep it all? Why not just delete everything you can't listen to in a day/week?

The reason of course, is because I like different things at different times, and I can't always predict what I'm in the mood to hear. If there's not enough space, I have to choose based on what I think I might like... and I could be wrong, or I could decide I really wanted to listen to x song, but now I can't because I didn't put it on my phone's limited space.

Orrrrr, I could just buy the storage I need plus a little extra, and then put it all there. And then I don't have to waste time preplanning what I want to listen to/watch.
That argument is not even close to the same comparison. Your computer h/d is where you store your music..... LoL, nice try though.

For me, 16GB is plenty. My media library is close to 100GB, but I don't feel the need to have all of my media with me at all times.
I'd buy that for a dollar.

Is 16 gb storage enough? I got an iPod Touch 32 gb and it's nearly full. So should I just go cheap and get the 16 gb version and try to limit what I put on it, or just go all out and get the 64 gb version so that I put anything on it that I want? ( the 64 gb version is more expensive and is very hard to get, there is a long waiting list )

16 GB is actually only 14 GB when you connect it to iTunes. Over time you will learn how to manage space and limit the amount of junk you keep on your device. Now, I'm perfectly fine with 16 (≈14) GB, even though my iTunes library is 90 GB. Dynamic playlists do the work for me.

I would have liked 64 gig, but the price tag, even with upgrade, was just too steep. For me, a non video person who takes a decent amount of photos and only takes songs he wants, a 16 gig iPhone 4 got the job done for a price.

Just figure out what yer gonna use it for first :p

I survived with an 8 GB Original iPhone for a year, ya just godda know yer space limitations. The only reason I upgraded, was cuz my cat Pyuked on my iPhone, chocolate milk all over it! Destroyed it. There was no waiting list when I got my new iPhone 4, but its just a iPhone 4, not 4S. Maybe the waiting liszt is long 4 the 4S, but 64 is a lodda room, iPhone apps generally dont use up that much space.

My brother got me an iPhone 4 last May, 32 GB, which means, 29GB and 1 GB of that always is reserved for System, I let it do one system upgrame to 4.3.3 and I hacked it with Jailbreakme.com just minutes before 4.3.4 came out.

I noticed that my Cydia did not have Hackulous repository installed, so I had to add that by hand, once I did that, well I loaded it up with apps that cost a lot just to check em out, deleted half of em, bought the other half, saved 1 or 2 I liked. I kept Navigon, cos it was a 200 MB Download! Plus is is a kick ass navigation proggy- It COMES with Droids for free! Or so I thought.

Most of my apps are Music making apps, I have a few multi track recording apps, and I got Fruity Loops for iPhone, I love it, I can make all kinds of noises. Cant afford the interface that goes with those things though.

But when it comes to it, I was offered 32 GB and I took it, ther more the better, with 32 GB you can have SO many apps installed and w/backgounder you can run a lot of em at the same time. I could only do so much with 8GB, but even 8 GB is better that a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!

I'll just close in saying, pick yer phone in relation to what you DO. If you dont do music, then ya dont need a lotta space. But it you do anything that requires room - Photography, Video - Those use up lots of space, I have Video and Photo apps that kick butt - The CONTENT I make is what uses up all the space.

I'll finish with this - Get iFile. Its cheap, only about 5 bucks, its on Cydia, and you can use it to manage your saved files - When your phone gets jammed up, you can move the files right off the phone using a Web Interface, and then use the App to delete em. Just figreu out if what u do needs all that room, and when you get it, constrain yerself to the size limite you for - Cos with the 30 GB I got, I still get jammed up sometimes! I have learned to be frugal and I am NOT AFRAID to delete apps! :)

Now for those of you with huge libraries of music why do you feel the need to have all 3000 songs with you? Can't listen to them all in one day, one week ect..... so what's the point of having so many on your phone? Of course with match and cloud you don't need to have it on your phone but what if you don't have internet or service? Are you really going to be missing the 2500 songs you don't have on your phone?

Mostly because I don't know exactly what I'll be in the mood to listen to at any given moment, and I don't feel like constantly resyncing (and don't have access to my computer all the time... when traveling for example). Also, the resale value usually compensates for the initial cost. And really, when your cell phone bill is already $100-200/month, is it really that big of a deal to spend the same amount extra for a capacity upgrade? IMO, no.

Subjective question asked all the time (try reading the other identical threads). It really depends on you. I'm the type that prefers not having to worry about storage and that's why I have a 64GB iPad 2 and a 64GB iPhone 4s. Obviously, YMMV. What you "should" do is for you to determine. We can't tell you. Where are you willing to compromise? Where are you not? Have you looked to see how much space you could free up on your current device and whether or not 16GB is feasible for you? We can't tell you if 16GB is enough either.

The point is always subjective, regardless of topic. For me, it's variety. Why does it matter why I carry all my music with me? It's my preference. Whether you choose to or not is your preference and I really don't care what you do. There's no such thing as only one valid approach (despite your assertion) or else Apple wouldn't bother offering the different storage capacities.

What are you talking about? My iPhone is also where I store my music.

You (and certainly others) may prefer to keep your entire library on your computer and only sync a portion to your device. That's your preference -- not everyone's. Nice try.

The point is always subjective, regardless of topic. Of course it is, never said any different. For me, it's variety. Why does it matter why I carry all my music with me? It doesn't, never said it did. I simply asked a question It's my preference. Whether you choose to or not is your preference and I really don't care what you do. Good, thanks. There's no such thing as only one valid approach (despite your assertion) Please explain when and how I made such an assertion or else Apple wouldn't bother offering the different storage capacities.

oh silly rabbit..... some of us are older and remember a time when there was no iTunes or cloud. We had these things called CD's. Little plastic disks with music on them that was magically read by a device called a CD player. I have about 700 cd's worth of music on my computer..... you can't just upload cd's to your phone, that takes a computer. See you put the CD into your computer and that stores it on your hard drive and converts it so you can listen to it on your computer OR put it on your electronic music player. NOW with match you could theoretically delete all these uploaded cd's but if you can afford the hard drive space why do that?
So now that you have been educated on why people would actually have music stored on their computer, we can stop having this discussion. Good day sir.
