Catalina killed 32-bit app

I thought High Sierra killed 32-bit apps?

What I would love are four independent TB3 channels, as we get with Ice Lake in the new MBP 13" 2020 TB4.

Wait, the recent 2020 update to the MBP 13" offers four independent TB3 channels each at 40gb/s or is this a future projection?

If this is current then the 2020 4 thunderbolt MBP 13" outshines the 2019 16" when it comes to such things as data transfer, egpu, hooking up multiple devices that can take advantage of that speed and not be limited by 2 ports sharing 40 gb/s.

Well, considering they’ve done this before it’s obviously their strategy.

Lesson being: wait until the half-cycle graphics refresh if you can!

Crazy price.

I'm looking to buy MBP 16" but not sure if I should wait for the refreshed version.

I hear some rumor saying that Apple might release the refreshed version of Macbook Pro 16-inch in WWDC.

My plan now is waiting for WWDC20 on the next Monday and see if Apple announces the upgraded spec there. If they don't, I will go buy the current version. What do you guys think? or I should wait a few months for the refreshed one.

They are not going to release a new MBP 16” at WWDC. That’s why they just yesterday updated the configurations for it.

16 inch with LG 21.5 4k Ultrafine here and its running t 59C both screens utilized. fans 2500 and 2300 but quiet. The only thing I'm not crazy abut s the keyboard and palm area being on the warmer side while typing. other than that no problems. ordered a angle riser for more comfort typing and maybe more cooling in the rear. any recommendations on a device that will raise the back a couple inches and not dig into the wrists?

Do you think the upgrade is significant enough for me to upgrade now? My MacBook is kinda beat up and is suffering from the screen

i agree, if their was an eminent update coming, I don’t think they would have added the option to upgrade the GPU. I think right now is a good time to buy a refurbished unit.

If they haven’t gone to intel 10th gen core by now, can’t imagine they’ll do it soon.

I’d wait for WWDC just to see what the Arm situation is. Maybe that drives down prices on Intel machines, maybe they do announce some Arm machine. Who knows.

It’s not like you can buy an AMD 5600 XT for $294 or something.

Mac OS fans love it with no lube.

That's a desktop card, not comparable in price at all. HP charges $650 to go from a GeForce 1660 Ti to a 2070 Super in their gaming notebooks, so it isn't abnormal.

Whoa. This card is a BEAST. Faster in gaming benchmarks than a 13" with 5700XT eGPU and in other benchmarks faster than the Vega 56 in the iMac Pro. Incredible.

I was tempted to buy the new 16" in december, but decided to stay with my MBP Late 2013, it still works fine for normal everyday tasks and some light Instagram clip editing.
I'm not sure if I should buy now with the new GPU option. But Wifi6 and even more so the webcam would be a great upgrade. So I probably wait a few more months

hope not. Really waiting for the 10nm version...
There is no 6-core or 8-core 10nm part sold by Intel. Their 10nm so far apparently hasn't been found good enough for bigger types of chips.

There is 10'th gen parts available though, but they are essentially rebrands of the 14nm 9'th gen. Nothing to be excited about.

Nope. It was Catalina. I have Mojave and 32-bit programs still work in Mojave.

+1

I have been saying this since the 10th gen 2020MBP 13 came out but this falls on deaf ears. Intel's marketing is still winning I guess....

The 5600M is a serious beast according to that youtube review which seems legit. I guess Navi was really being hamstrung with the GDDR5 memory and really needs HBM to perform.

The price is still incredibly steep and for most, the 8GB 5500M is still the best BTO option, but if you spend all day working with 4K, 6K or even 8K video, it seems like a complete no brainer having that kind of power to go from place to place editing on the go, on location, etc.

If an app in 2020 is still 32 bit it’s because the developer abandoned it. It really sucks if one of the apps used for your daily workflow falls into that category. That’s why I tell people to look before updating anything. Especially their OS.

The more I look at this chip, the more impressed I am. I have a 10lbs plus Alienware 17 R3 with 1070 chip that puts out 5.9Tflops that draws 115 watts or so on the GPU. Fast forward to the 5600m that's putting out only 11% slower performance at around 50 watts. When compared to its contemporaries like the RTX 2060 Max Q, you're getting 15% better performance at 60% less power usage.

This chip is awesome, but costs an arm and a leg.

PS Did they fix the 20 watt open lid with 4K+ display bug in this one?

Tempting to trade in my 7 month old MBP 16....
