Having moved to Europe, I don't see a difference , if anything European criminals are smarter, the people who get done the most are visitors. if anything people coming to Europe are too trusting, and criminals take advantage of that situation. Your insurance prices go up cause people break into houses and steal cars, not cause some jackass steals an iPhone from an Apple Store.

I own a business... I need insurance designed for businesses. People who claim on their business insurance push the prices up for others.

In the same way my wife wishes we lived in USA :D

The neighbour's lawn is always greener ;)

Lol. The US is great. I guess I didn't give you much context.

My wife is manager at a Best Buy. When they see people steeling they can't (based on a best buy US policy) stop them. They can confront them, but the theif can just continue to walk straight through the doors. They don't even want employees physically gettig in front of a person...

They could be a greater loss if they intervene. Also employees are not law enforcement personnel.

I think maybe you didn't follow the course of the discussion?

In Italy, the person I quoted stated they can do more at Best Buy as far as intervening. Not the case in the US. My wife is manager in the US. She joked she would rather live in Italy for that reason.

He was referring to the policy in the U.S. There are pros (less crime?) and cons (more harm to employees) to intervening, although I'm not sure if petty crimes are less of a problem in Europe as a result.

I feel sorry for the buyer that will be Scummed....

If it's sold via ebay then the buyer will most likely get their money back - especially if they sell multiple and every buyer charges back.

If it's over craiglist then I just hope the buyers check the phones activate first before buying.

If the buyer buys it without testing and checking the imei with the carrier, they should not cry as they didn't do their due diligence.

Not necessarily if they sell them as activation-locked or for parts not working. People purposely buy activation-locked off ebay all the time and they'll make a pretty penny from 16 units.

The post was referring to people being scammed... if people are buying it knowing it's condition then of course they can't chargeback. :p

It was actually in response to "Congrats on pulling 16 bricks." People purposely buying activation locked or for parts not working do not care about the brick part as they'll likely salvage for parts.

I got that. I was just pointing out I am well aware of the U.S. policy.

Honestly I have no data to backup how nuch harm comes to employees elsewhere. I do know that circumstances are different. Here a person "twists their back" putting blurays on shelves and they come back with a doctors note that they cannot lift anything for two weeks. Wish I was kidding.

Because my wife has access to shrink numbers she can say that shrink is much lower, as a whole, outside of the U.S. thiugh. Part of the reason for her comment lol. Obviously there is more to shrink thank theft, though.

She's actually part of the loss prevention team that gets moved around to "trouble" stores to see if they can turn them around. She does all in her power (that the law and company allows her). Still, there are people that just walk out the door because they know they can. Latest theft was three Xbox ones. Pkayed in the car were mismatched. Both came back stolen.
