Yeah I agree. I had a lot of trouble with my 2016 MBP and the keyboard. But the 15" 2019 one I had seemed to show no issues. Of course is just one data point...
I have been using the 16" for a week
and to me, the 2017" keyboard is more convenient and I type better, but it's just TOOOO LOUD!
So I am really in a quandary about which one to keep.
It's too easy to accidentally graze and mess up whatever you're doing IMO. Would have made so much more sense to just have the touch bar above the function keys.
Couldn't agree more. Butterfly is finally done, and I'm happy to see Apple's decision on this.
Lack of physical esc was crazy idea. Those who like butterfly, I bet they don't really use their keyboard extensively or esc key.
The new keyboard is not the reason I bought the new MacBook Pro. I bought it because I need it and I thought the upgrades were great. I would’ve bought it if it had the butterfly keyboard.

I’m sure they use their keyboard a lot. Just because they don’t feel the need to feel bad about their purchase doesn’t mean they’re wrong. People legitimately like the butterfly keyboard and they aren’t wrong to feel that way.
Butterfly keyboard is still FANTASTIC on my 13” 2019 MBP. No complaints whatsoever. I couldn’t be happier with it. And it is actually quite quiet and easy to type on. If I could go back in time I would buy this laptop again.
I wouldn't oversell this keyboard by any stretch. Based on what we have seen from the design, the reliability is likely better, but it sure seems like the 2019 butterflies have worked out their kinks.
I’m also hesitant to say Apple went back to the old keyboard. Sure, they went back to scissor switches but from the reviews I’ve read it still retained most of the firmness of the butterfly.
