I had a 16, but didn't feel comfortable and took it back for a 32. Go 32 all the way. It takes away a lot of the pressure to have to delete apps and stuff.

32

Your are more likely to miss the space than you are the $100. I bought the original iPad on launch day and only got a 16. There were more than a few times that I wished I had more space. Yes, things have change since then - with various streaming and cloud options but there are more apps and more media that take more space and that trend will also continue. Also, many of the times that I wished I had more space involved travel where I would have less access to high speed wireless of any kind (more rural areas, long flights etc.).

- just my .02

My iPad history:

iPad 1 - 16GB WiFi
iPad 2 - 32GB 3G
iPad 3 - 64GB LTE

For me there is a growing need for more space. I don't load movies/games/music on my iPad but, quality dictionary/reference apps, video podcasts, GarageBand, pdf's and photos occupy a lot of space. When iPad gets full performance starts to deteriorate.

It really depends on how you use your iPad. My advice is to try 32GB, which i think is the best for most people for a few weeks and, if necessary, exchange for smaller or bigger capacity iPad.

At least 32GB due to the new retina display, many iOS apps that support the new higher resolution screen takes up much more storage space than before.

I swapped my order from 16 GB to 32 GB when I picked it up and really glad I did. My new iPad would be almost full now with 16 GB, just with the apps I already have, most of which haven't even been updated for retina graphics yet. Nor have I re-exported my Lightroom photos for the new iPad screen size. I'd be screwed if I had got the 16 GB model. The OS itself takes up about 3 GB so you really don't have much left. Unless all you do is surf the web and read text-only iBooks, I wouldn't recommend the 16 GB model to anyone. Before the retina screen you could get away with it, but no longer.

I am typing this from my 16gb iPad. I will be returning this one for the 32gb when I awake. Some apps are literally 1gb. GarageBand + Racing HD were two gigs total. To me, the feeling of hard drive freedom for $100 is better than hard drive constriction. I also think there's added value in having the 32gb when it comes to reselling. Just my two pennies.

I've always had 64GB iPads. I didn't use all the space on my iPad 2 so decided to preorder a 32GB but decided I wanted a 64GB and bought one before my 32GB arrived.

Very glad that I did. I only have 5GB left. I travel a lot so streaming is not an option.

If money was an issue and you can stream all your media you might be ok with a 16GB. But as people have pointed out, the size of apps are increasing.

If you can afford it, go with the 32GB.

I never actually thought about it until I sat down to order the 16GB and then I realised I'd never given it any thought. I cruised around the web looking at all the different opinions and decided 32GB is where I needed to be, so ended up going with that.

I'm still on my iPad 1 and it's a 32gb. I'm planning on getting the new one and think I will get a 16gb. It comes down to what you do with it, obvious. I surf the web, listen radio, spotify and stream tv-shows. Most apps ain't so big like GarageBand or some of the heavier games. For casual stuff 16gb seems like its enough. Make a list on things you will do with it and I mean what you really gonna do with it. Will you have infinity blade 1 and 2 installed at the same time? Ok get the 32gb or more. With iCloud, Dropbox and other cloud services the need for storage ain't that important at least for my part. I get the feeling some people just fill their 64gb iPads with stuff they don't really use. This obviously isn't true for all you iPads users out there.

I am returning my 32 for a 64 today. I quickly realized that new apps are huge and 1080p content from iTunes is even bigger. The 16gb was fine for me with the iPad 2 but even 32 is cramped for me already. I am kind of shocked.

I could have posted this question a week ago... I decided on 32 because I knew I wanted to put some photo albums on it and not have to swap out.

I don't see myself putting much music on it but movies for sure.

I have no regrets with the 32!

I've got a 16 gig and I'm fine with it. This is my first iPad and I'll probably get 32 when I upgrade in a few years as I suspect I'll need that much to hold all my current apps.

I don't have any music on it because I have my iPhone for that.

I'll put movies on it as I need them, either from iTunes in the Cloud or just syncing with my computer, but I'm a Netflix and Hulu Plus subscriber so I don't see me putting too many movies on it.

I'm keeping an eye on my storage and I still have plenty of space on it for growth. But I'm sure I'll take files off. For example, I already three stared the first two worlds of Angry Birds in Space and just started working on the Danger Zone. When I'm done, I might just go ahead and delete it from the iPad until new DLC comes out.

I have always used 16gb ipads and I assumed since Retina were bigger in size it was a safe bet to get a 32gb. While I don't regret the decision so much I have to state that I could have gotten away with using a 16gb for sure. I hardly play games at all on it and only use it for Goodreader, browsing, comics and music production.

Its an amazing device and to be fair I only paid £59 extra for the 32gb instead of the £79 saving me £20.

32 GB since u are on the fence about it.

While 16 GB is enough for some users even here, Ive talked to quite a few people that regret not getting a higher capacity model.
