I did some testing with my new Haswell Retina Macbook Pro 15" - 2.3GHz, 16GB, 512GB, 750M GT.

These tests were done with the Dedicated Geforce GT 750M as gfxCardStatus wouldn't let me just turn on Integrated. Going to figure this out.

I'm not sure if anyone really cares about these or not, figure I would do them anyways. If someone can help me figure out how to test with just the integrated graphics on I would do so.

Also if you have another game, program or video settings in League/D3 you want tested let me know.

Sorry about the pictures they might be on the large side..

Both games FPS were taken during action in the game..
I ran into a pile of mobs in Diablo 3 with my monk and went crazy, tornados/lightning and explosions everywhere. When you pause D3 (goto the menu), the FPS stays within 1FPS of what it was before you paused.
League I made sure multiple opponents or friends on screen attacking + lots of minions if possible.

EDIT: Updated D3 benchmarks for first two, not sure why they were so low first time.

Is there really any need for AA at retina resolutions? Could you please try LoL at native and very high without AA.

I just tried it for you in a bot game again.

Screenshot #1 Settings (Native, MAX).

Anti-Aliasing ON: 31-35 FPS
Anti-Aliasing OFF: 43-50 FPS

And no, there was no noticeable graphic quality drop turning it off.

edit: turning AA off for any of the settings I chose to test, increased FPS by around 10-15 on average.

you should another high intensive graphic game...
btw...what's your opinion regarding those two games wit 15?

5 cs 3 minutes into the game ?

GG

LOL.. I know.. I was just standing around autoattacking the bots to force them to fight, simulate a real game.

Can you try Dota 2? Thank you.

I don't own DOTA2... is it free to play? If not, I can see if I got a buddy with it.

My first impression is very good.. mind you I'm coming from a Macbook Air 2011 that had an HD3000 in it, so anything is going to seem much better I'm sure. lol.

The games were both very playable on specific settings as you can see, and neither looked like 'poor quality' by any means.

I'm not disappointed that's for sure. I'm sure Nvidia will update the drivers soon as well.

I wish I could test the Intel Iris Pro 5200 with the games though, not sure how I can force it into those. GfxCardStatus won't let me.

Also, what is a "high intensive game"? Recommendations of such a game?

I don't think I mentioned this, but the games I'm testing are being run on OSX Mavericks, not in Bootcamp as I haven't setup Windows yet.

Appreciated! Your use of AA is odd, though, and is altering the results I'd want to see :p

Regardless of what anyone will say. I want to say this a great that you took the time to show what the new rMBP can do. You even went into detail to show the settings and the changes to show the FPS.

Thank you :)

Yes, free to play on Steam. Please test. :) Thank you.

Downloading DOTA2 off Steam right now..

4.1GB download, says will be done in about 5 minutes. Ahh.. I love my Canadian inter webs! :D

You're very welcome. I didn't really see anyone do any game benchmarks yet.

Much appreciated!!! Was wondering hows the performance on 750m, since LOL is only game i played on a laptop.

Now more interest about fan noise and surface temperature.

Thanks again,:apple:

-1600x1000.

If this were a classic Macbook Pro, the quality would look the same right? Or would it look worse due to retina scaling?

Can you try the max-quality one of League in full resolution Borderless mode instead of Fullscreen? I've seen that it seems to run faster on my Mac on Mavericks, and just wondering if it would make a difference on the new MBPs too.

diablo 3 gets really choppy during huge fights (really really choppy if you're an endgame player)

I run it on 1600x1000 with everything turned to medium, it's very fast.

- This is the stats on iStatMenu (updated for Mav) at desktop, no League running.

The Macbook was 'warm' but not uncomfortable in the least, by the 10 minute mark. Also, the fans were there, but not at max obviously (~3500RPM) I believe the fans can get well over 5000RPM if needed.

When I try to run it on "borderless" which is what I do on my Windows desktop, it makes the screen very weird, zoomed right in.. can't do anything.. I'm going to look into it.

Thanks for this thread. More fact filled threads, instead of pissing matches, are greatly welcomed. I'm sure lots of people will reference this in the months to come.
