Currently using 4gb of my 64 lol so er 16gb. Cant justify £80 for extra 16gb when its £12-15 everywhere else.

besides, all my movies are on my server, ipad - friendly mp4 format so tghey can be streamed in glorious 1080p whenever.

For the same reasons that many people posted above, I went for the 64GB (just gotta have the best) - though a 128GB model would have been nice.

Even so, I am tempted to invest in a Seagate Goflex Satellite - you can never have too much memory.

I went with 32GB because I don't really plan on storing too much on it. I have a 64 GB iPhone 4S and that was worth it to me because I take a lot of HD videos and pictures and most of the storage is filled up with those.

On the iPad I don't plan on using it as a camera so all I'll really have are apps. All of my mp3s are already on a cloud or I just listen to internet radio (pandora and tune in radio) so I don't need storage for music.

I went with the 4G LTE model this time, I hope I actually use the 4G and don't regret it lol.

As the title says. I want to see if there are many people who went with 16gb as I've ordered 16 gigs as well and wondering if return to Apple Store on a launch day...

I don't understand. How does the capacity that others have chosen have any bearing whatsoever on *your* needs?

He probably just wants to know how other people are planning on using the device. Then maybe he can get idea of like oh yeah I think I might want to do that too someday so maybe I should upgrade.

For me if I had the money and was choosing one, probably 32 GBs. 16 GBs seems to be so small you would have to treat it really as a toy/extra supplemental device where as 32 gives you more space to be at least more functionality. It's still not ideal (I already have my 32GB iphone almost filled) but it would make it workable as more than just a supplemental extra.

If I were planning on using it heavily or as my main device (or even as my main portable device), it would be worth it for the 64 GB.

So it really depends on how I saw myself using it. If it was just a neat toy that I wanted to be able to mess with, I could see myself going with 16 gbs. If I saw that it had some functionality I'd see as useful but I'd still mostly be relying on my laptop, probably 32. If I saw it as either something I'd be using constantly, or replacing my laptop when I go on trips (I really don't see that for me though, the laptop to me is worth the extra weight to take with me), I'd go with 64 GBs. But I would probably have had to had one before and this be an upgrade and seen my use of it to convince me to pay 700 dollars for a tablet honestly. Even 600 seems a bit much, it's just that 16 gbs seems pretty useless so they could probably convince me to at least pay that.

Aren't these questions that one would ask, oh I don't know, before purchasing a product? Call me crazy, but the question of 4G v WiFi isn't exactly rocket surgery.

Black 64gb LTE for me. Have a 32gb wifi iPad 2 now just always like to know I have the extra space. Find my self using my iPad more than my MacBook so the extra room comes in handy.

Well, i know 16 gigs will be slightly not enough for me and I just wanted to check whether there are many people thinking same way. Looking on a poll we can see there are a way more people who chose more than 16 gigs and it seems to be reasonable.

32gb

this is manageable for me since I constantly swap out movies etc.

And I didn't want to spend more than $460 out of pocket (had gift cards to cover the rest).

That said, if a 128gb model becomes available in the future I'd jump. I'll see how the 32gb copes with my school/etc. load now that some of the apps I've been needing have been updated.

I went with 64GB version (iPad 2). I've used about 20GB so far.

I had 16 gb on the iPad 2 and I think Ill go with it again on the iPad 3.

While I did constantly have to remove large apps from my iPad 2... they were apps I was literally never using anyway. The only thing I think effected me is that it'd be nice to be able to store one or two HD movie on there, and I didnt really have the storage too. Netflix made up for it though.

Plus once it was jailbroken I just bought the camera connection kit and could store stuff on SD cards. Not perfect but it worked, and you could play them directly off the cards. Hopefully the iPad 3 doesn't take too long to get cracked.

Someone commented that without sotrage it was less functional and I disagree with that... the functional part of the iPad for me was mostly very low storage stuff. Safari, splashtop, document/to do apps, art apps... all that had no problem fitting, it was games and movies that required a lot of space and thats the toy part.

I am kind of concerned about Retina app sizes though.

This is my first Ipad and I preordered the white 64GB Wi-Fi version. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, I figured it's better to have too much space than too little space. I'm unsure of how heavily I'll be using it at this time but I would like to optimize everything that it has to offer so I figured that getting the 64GB would be sufficient enough to do so without having to worry about possibly running out of space. Even if I don't use a good chunk of the space, I like knowing that it's available just in case I want to increase my activity on it.

16 gig black.

With iCloud really kicking up and a lot of repurchased movies, I can download when I need to.
Same here, only white.

I have only 8GB on my existing iPad and that is nearly all apps--half of which I have not used in months and are just there "because."

I used to keep more on it--like my iTunes music. But with iTunes Match I don't have worry about that (which is good as I rarely use my iPad to listen to music). I also used to load a few movies on it and then never actually watch them. Now I just stream what I want and it is always fresh. No more care-and-feeding of another gadget. On a plane I usually read. Ergo the only media I do keep on it are books, and they don't take much space.

I also have a mb air which will be with me during most any traveling.

Hope I don't regret it!

Michael

32 gig white LTE. I got a 16 gig first gen iPad and had a bit of a struggle on occasion managing storage. But I'm getting mine to write and read, so all I need is storage for books, PDFs, and ambience music.

64 gigs sounds fantastic if you can afford it, but with iCloud do you really need to have so many movies and so much music on the thing all at once? Honestly, with Spotify you can work around the music thing altogether.

32GB is the sweet spot. Just enough to have as much media on it as I want and just enough that I won't quickly run out of room to put my media on. I also wanted to future proof my iPad 3 as much as possible so 32GB seemed the most likely choice.

64GB as I found 32GB too constricting, having to work out what to delete when I needed space. It would be such an issue if all apps stores settings and data in the cloud then I could delete them, later reinstall and get my data back. We aren't there yet.

Bought the 64g. I have a 32g right now and it's pretty full. Lots of pics and videos of my grandkids plus movies. I travel a lot and don't always have good wifi for streaming. Plus I'm tired of having to manage the storage so closely.

On the other hand my husband also has a 32g and he could easily do with a 16g. The only thing big he has on his is a few podcasts. But then when we travel together he relies on mine a lot so at those times I load up with some of his 'stuff' too. #

Guess I'm really "old school'. You can never have too much memory or storage.
