Entry level should have been 32GB, guessing/hoping this will change next year. If you are worried about running out of space then get the 64GB. Depending on how you plan on paying for the phone, it's $100 + tax more upfront or just a few dollars more per month (ie AT&T Next).

It's too brilliant on apples part!! I don't think they will do away with 16/64/128 gb for a long time!

That applies only to files you have manually selected to save to the phone. Simply installing the Dropbox iOS app does *not* download files automatically.

How much can I store on my phone or tablet?

The Dropbox iPhone app can save as many files as your iPhone can hold or your Dropbox storage limit allows. If you find yourself running out of space on your iPhone, removing files from your Favorites list will clear up space on your device.

How many apps do you have?

Under 100 I would say. I include things such as the messages and mail app that take up sapce unless they are cleared frequently. I also mentioned I take a ton of photos and video, so there's that. Those who play many games (not me, really) can fill their device with just a small handful of large titles. I have a few apps, such as iMovie and iPhoto that are anywhere from 200-700+ mb a piece.

My mom is nearly 70 and she just filled her 16GB 5S. She has about a dozen apps and takes a lot of photos and videos too. For someone like that, 16GB is really nothing these days.

That is true, but when you choose to view a file, it's downloaded. So is the time/effort used to manage what is or isn't on your device via Dropbox worth the $100 you could just spend to up your local storage?

Ahhhh yes. I admit I am not a heavy photog by any stretch and I do all my media streaming so honestly I don't use much space. The biggest hog on mine is, oddly enough, Spotify's cache.

I do wish I'd gotten the 64 just for that safety zone, but I don't need nearly that much. 32 was plenty.

The only reason to buy a 16GB is if the 64GB is just not affordable. Otherwise the 64GB should be considered the minimum. I'd probably even go as far as saying it's the ideal size unless you know you will be filling the phone.

The only reason to get an 8 or a 16 is because you don't have the money for more.

It would be better to get the 64gb 6 than a 6+ 16gb.

They don't make an 8GB iPhone 6.

Obvuously the 64GB is better than the 16GB, but that is not what the OP is asking.

^^^

The 8 comment was for the prior iphones, same premiss applies though.

Its only for those who can't afford the bigger one.

So again a 64gb 6 is better than a 16gb 6+

Hell a 64gb 6 is better than a 64gb 6+ to me.

YMMV

It's really depended on how you use your iphone. I bought my 16GB 6+ 1 month ago and still have 4GB left. I only download essentials apps but there are still load of them; the biggest one is VainGlory! I don't store any movies or musics in my iphone at all; instead I upload it to Google Musics and stream them. No regret from my side so far.

That would have made sense in 2009 when the notion of cloud storage was nonexistent. We used to have scads of music and videos stored on our phones, but right now the heaviest media items I have are Spotify's cache and my own photos. 16GB is more than I have use for.

How many apps do you have?

I don't have that many apps (around 80 or so) and that occupies 15GB alone with the OS. These days apps are huge 250mb to 1GB is not that unusual. I'd rather not have to manage my apps and have all that space left for recording videos and taking lots of photos.

All my iPhones have been 16 Gb models, but the next one, hopefully a 6, will surely be a 64 Gb.
I have about 4 Gb free on my iPhone 5s, but I'm limiting the apps installed.

A 32 Gb would be the perfect model for me.

That part made me realize how differently I use my phone than most, haha.

I have the 16GB 6+ and it is fine for me; however, most people aren't as good at managing their music, apps, and pictures/videos like me. If I were on contract, then I would have went with the 64GB without a doubt. Luckily for me, I found a 16GB 6+ for around $600 (mint condition) not too long ago. No complaints here. I have around 6GB left on my phone.

Yep, completely worth it!

The other thing for frequent upgraders to consider - the 16GB model will be very hard to sell.

In my local market, the 16GB models have been readily available from launch day, but the 64 and 128 models still very hard to find. That means many buyers are willing to hold out to get the larger capacity.

Yes I guess that is the difference....I don't really see the 6+ as a phone anymore, but instead as a pocket computer and camera.

I have 6+ 16gb and its fine for me, only have a few apps (less than 10) and music. Probably would have gotten 64GB if it was not out of stock.

I've sold 6 prior Apple devices, all entry-level models. Not the slightest problem getting any of them off my hands. Generally, undercutting 90% of second-hand sellers by a tiny bit will easily sell the device to some "just looking for a cheap iPad for my son" buyers.

I think it was a mistake for apple to keep the 16GB and kill off the 32, it makes little sense to me, to buy the 16GB model. Updates alone require 5GB of storage, that's a lot to eat into a 16GB phone.

Ios8

Ios 8 alone takes up 4.6 gb of data. So with the preinstalled apps you only have about 8gb of data leftover.

Not much.

And who knows what ios 9 will take up. ??
