On one hand it sucks because they could have made the base storage 32GB now, instead of 16.

But on the other hand it's awesome because 16GB is the same price, and you now get 64GB for $100 less...

So I would call it a trick, but you're right that it's silly to blame Apple or complain about them doing what everyone else also does. I don't use "trick" in a negative way.

Fine. What you're calling a trick I'm calling a strategy but we both get to the same place. The fundamental trick they pull is charging us a lot of money for something we don't need but buy anyway. After that the tricks are those we play on ourselves.

I'm ok with that.

But you know how Apple claims they reach 98% customer satisfaction? Is this a survery?

They're generally done by 3rd party companies, but the thing is that they're not surveys on what you think the company should offer but how satisfied you are with the specific product you already bought.

So you'd have to buy a 16 GB and then take the survey and indicate that you want the size to be bigger. You couldn't just complain about the pricing layout in general to them.

I currently have 16G on my i5 and would go to 32G on my next phone. But now Apple is giving me an extra 32G for the same $100. I see no problem with their business model.

For some, it's never cheap enough.

Had Apple made the 32 Gb base you would have saved 100$ if you wanted the 32 Gb version. They people who want 64 Gb do not get affected.

I have a feeling that Apples margins will be high this time round. The magical generosity of an extra 48 GB ram for 100$ might be enough to make the 16 GB version lose its number 1 spot. Apple has kinda made an unofficial $100 increase in the iPhone.

In Canada a iPhone 6 Plus 64 Gb will be $969 plus a 13%tax. It will be another Nexus from Santa this year I guess.

ah, making all that profit and screws the consumer again.

i dont mind, i never get the 16 or 32 GB, so technically its going to be cheaper for me to get the 64GB for the iPhone 6S next year.

but again, who the hell can just use 16GB these days? with games and apps taking more space, hell you'd only be able to have a couple of songs with a couple of games, and a couple of apps if it even can handle that much.

i never fully used the 64 GB, always around 15 GB left over, so i think id stick to the 64 GB for now.

but it def should be 32/64/128 for the iPad. i doubt they will though.

16GB is way too little on an iPad. 32would be perf for base model, and a lot of people are going to get 64GB for a 100 dollar upgrade because of the size of the apps these days and how much space the data consumes.

it isn't like the 128 GB sales are going to dip because we got rid of the 16GB model, it actually might help it.

Yes. But I'm not under the illusion that Apple would gave stuff away. Not even U2. This isn't a charity.

The cost of 16gb is obvious cheaper than 32gb. So why don't Apple give us the cheaper one by selling the same price. I think u will make the same dicision if u at cook's position

So you all are saying the 16GB is pretty much a waste? Again, I have an iPhone 4 that I've used for 2 years and still have 6.5GB free. But I clean up my photos and videos often, transfer them to my computer/hard drive, and I don't game a ton -- nor do I drop money on any games or purchase add ons. Again, I just don't want to regret a 16GB and I'm trying to find why having an iPhone 6 will cause me to use so much more space.

Any 16GB'ers out there? hah!
