If(really when!) they announce new Ipods today, when can I go into an apple store to buy them? Do they have them in the store the same day?

they will tell you in the announcement. chances are however that it won't be until tomorrow. maybe very late tonight. cause they wouldn't want to trump the announcement by having anything new show up at a store yesterday and some staff member giving out confirmed info.

showing up at the stores after 10am today would be different. by the time the shipment was processed etc the event would be over and it would all be good.

although given the typical, they will want to change things on the floor and that's not going to be done while the stores are open.

so I predict that the earliest scheme is announce this morning, get the stuff this afternoon in a shipment, after closing switch things up as needed, tomorrow start selling the new stuff

wtf

WTF why did I write banks!!! I must be tired. I meant to say iPod nanos and classics.

But I'm sure the banks will get wifi too...

HBO cares. (you've been flagged.)

Cool, flag me. :) I watch on my DVR. If I had FiOS TV, I could watch on DVR in any room in my home. Next logical step is to watch on my device where ever I am. If no DVR, I hope that SlingMedia will make iPhone software so that I can watch stuff on my DVR remotely. :)

not one person yet has guessed that the new banks and classics will have minor wifi capabilities!

Not gonna happen but.... Mail?

I have no idea what this means.

EDIT: Never mind. I just saw the messages above. Banks, I mean iPods -- I do that all the time.

WAPPLES!

If apple comes out with a product and calls it the Wapple... I would buy it no matter what it actually did... :D

Come to think of it, I'm pretty satisfied with all my apple stuff. Despite obvious flaws, I really don't think there's any need to upgrade any of this stuff... except, oh wait... yeah, I forgot... it makes more money. Necessity can go smoke a tailpipe...

But soon, very soon, everyone will NEED a Wapple... I think I'm going to go put one of my apple symbol stickers onto my shiny metal toaster...

Wapples!! Apples response to the moist edible Seinfeld computer!

Yum...

Is there a live stream or live updates anywhere?

No.

Mentioned this in the thread at least 5 times already. Only text and possibly still pictures from any reporter nice enough to post them. Possibly the event recorded AFTER it all goes down.

They really need to do something about the ipod/itunes and syncing to your computer....

We had all our songs on my wife's desktop. when her computer died, I moved all my songs to my macbook (her music taste is a little different than mine).

Since I switched her from an HP desktop to a mac mini, and her music collection is much smaller (she maybe has 50-75 CD's; where as I have over 5,000 individually downloaded songs, songs from cassettes, songs from Cd's that since got trashed, preaching and Bible study internet streams, etc).... I was hoping just to take her songs from her ipod nano and move them to her itunes.

NOT GONNA HAPPEN... I received a pop-up that stated "You cannot update a windows formatted ipod from a mac". I was like what the heck.... Then it asked me if I wanted to reset it back to factory defaults. Since she is leaving for a trip tomorrow, I said no for now. But the problem is, now she won't be able to have her newest selections with her; and I am going to have to re-rip all her CD's since her original Itune collection was lost on the dead computer.

Looks like I am gonna have the same problem as I am a switcher. My 2004 antique ipod is going to have to be reformatted. I could see mine having an issue because it is sold old, but her's? which is only a couple of years old?

c'mon........ I mean if my mother-in-law's cheap $100 no-name mp3 player she won at a company banquet lets me drag songs from her player to itunes and then from itunes to her player on (both mac and windows) with no problems - then why can't ipod.

Oh, for those wondering why I call mine an antique - it is almost 5 years old, in the shape of the classic, has a monochrome screen, can' play videos, etc.....

Maybe we need an upgrade.....

Strangely enough, if you had formatted it for a mac, it would have synced perfectly on both computers. It's the little details they forget to tell you. There is a ton of pc software that will allow you to pull your music off the pc drive and move it to the newly formatted mac. Just google it.

Ha, ha, great.

iTunes 8, wow. Who'd have thought a music management software would make it up to a version 8!! One would have thought music playing doesn't need so much!
Ordinarily they wouldn't, but iTunes 7 was too busy becoming everything but the kitchen sink. With iTunes 8, I hope updates doesn't require you to download the entire 60+ MB package over and over again.

If they don't bust out a 64 gig iPod touch i am disowning apple forever, but i'll still buy the 32 gig =(

the issue on a 64 gig touch is cost.

there is no way that they will use a standard hard drive in the touch line. it will be flash.

but if the cost is too high to feel they will get sales, they won't do it.

that's why the baby steps. as the cost comes down for the parts, they can increase the units and it doesn't feel like we are being slammed with a major price tag.

I know this ain't gonna happen
but i would love different colours for the ipod touch

buy a case. you can find them in every color of the rainbow.

Anyone notice the MP3 Player on Brad Pitts arm in the trailer for "Burn After Reading?"

New Nano, or old one?

hmmmm. lets see. the movie releases now which means it was filmed 6-12 months ago. but somehow apple got them a new nano and managed to make sure that no one spilled the info (or maybe this is Kevin's source of inspiration for his 'theories').

now seeing it. it's probably either a non working older model something or not an ipod but another company. in the armband you can't really tell for certain.

Since iTune TV thing fizzled why not make the AppleTV into a DVR or DVR extender. .

i'm not so sure about the whole itunes tv thing being a bust. it's getting quite a bit of hype thanks to shows like gossip girl blowing up on downloads. it might actually come through in the end.

tv is where a subscription service or even new rental service could go big. that and letting us watch a rented movie more than once.

Is it just me, or is the ipod that the random dancing silhouette guy is rocking out with, look particularly long and thin?

Mac formatted iPods don't sync on PCs, but from the sounds of it, he was trying to update the software on the iPod, rather than sync (you can't update a mac-formatted iPod on a PC or Vice Versa, without a restore).

Why do people go on about the stores going offline!?

It happens ever time! It's like getting excited if Steve wears a turtle neck.
