Ho Hum

Sorry to rain on the parade.

I get really excited when new products come out, but new colours for iPods just doesn't qualify; I mean it's not really front page news or anything.

Capacity upgrades are also pretty much expected, so no groundbreaking news there either.

iTunes 8; also some element of expectation there as well. After all we have been through a few versions.

Reading about iPhone software updates is about as exciting as reading Motorola Forums.

So, where's the beef?

Why all the excitement?

Why is there so much excitement about a press conference? Of course Apple are gonna ham it up and make a big deal, but they can afford to hire out massive venues and put humungous banners on the walls.. they are very very wealthy. They can JUST announce some new colours, its not really THAT an expense for them..

Laptops.. upgrades.. SO?? Every PC manufacturer releases new products and has press events to release them.. usually they don't have press events to launch speed bumps and colours.. they don't need to.

I think if we all calmed down about a press event, and realise that its JUST a press event.. some coloured ipods.. even a new ipod.. big deal!! Its an MP3 player!

I think we're all too big fans to see that this is a press event and Apple are good at keeping the fanboys happy.. and creating an interest where there probably isn't really anything THAT exciting.. we shall see!

Welcome to the recession.

I so hope, they try and match the new Zune 3.0 features and stop ignoring it.

I'd like to have those Zune 3.0 features added to my iPoT.

Could the yellow iPod nano signify the long-awaited (by some) arrival of the Beatles on iTunes? As in a special-edition "Yellow Submarine" nano?

alright ill throw an idea in of what i'd like to see. yay the new ipod touch with speaker and microphone and bundled with skype for iphone as a brand new voip device! yay!

Well, the other thing is WiMax, but is it ready for prime time?

Well, I'm pulling an all-nighter and I've already scheduled a sick day for work. There's just too much excitement surrounding this launch. I don't want to spoil the moment by pretending that I'm working while I'm actually refreshing the updates like mad!!

I only want to concentrate on the one thing that matters: new iPods!! I've grown tired of my nano fatty, and the battery is not what it was a year ago.. I can't wait for the new one to compliment my iPhone 3G. It's the missing link! Oh, and I hope they announce the Penryn Air's cause I'm definitely scoring one as well.

Huge

New colours and lowered prices? Throw in some new iPod socks and label this event huge!

Im pretty sure there is a yet to be guessed surprise of some sort. It was the start of September last year and in years past that they use to announce some sort of unexpected little bonus that helps big selling for the holiday season. Just like last year the first event in September they suddenly dropped the iPhone price $200 and blew them out of the stores for the holidays!

So I would expect a little something more than whats expected so far.

Last minute tidbits reveal a few more details about Apple's plans for later today. According to our sources, Apple will indeed be refreshing their entire iPod line at the media event.

Specifically, iPod Nanos are expected to be size-bumped from the current 4GB/8GB sizes up to 8GB/16GB models. As well, Apple will be introducing 9 different colors for each Nano (up from the current 6 colors). The additional colors are expected to be Purple, Yellow and Orange.

Sizes on the iPod Touch, however, will remain unchanged with 8GB, 16GB and 32GB options. Without size bumps, it's still unclear what other changes are in store for the iPod Touch.

The rumors that Apple had told someone that this was a big important event and that they really should try to be there don't mesh with this lot. Useful yes, but upgrades are "meh, that's nice" not big news, and different colours? C'mon, why is that even news-worthy now?

The iPod Shuffle really needs a one or two line display now, even a monochrome one. We shall see.

No word of any MacBook bumps I guess, which is disappointing.
