Which one do you recommend? Part of me thinks that the 16GB will be more than enough while the other part says to go with the 32GB as it's better to have too much memory. Is the extra $100 worth it?

Get your gown man on... go with the 32! HA HA! :D

Seriously, my old 16 was almost full. I have just over 1900 songs, 2 movies, 1700 pics and a few apps and I am at almost 50% of the 32GB.

I'd go for the 32 if the extra $100 isn't a big deal. It may seem like the 16 will be more than enough, but I always figure you can never have TOO much memory (well, unless your memory is encased in a Seagate 1.5TB external hard drive that dies and basically kills your entire media library like mine did late last week....thank God I had most of my favorite stuff on my iPhone so I was able to at least copy THAT back onto my computer. Good Lord, that was a long digression.)

Anyway, go for the 32. :D

Go with more. You'll think 16 is enough, then some day it will hit you. I should have have gotten the 32.

How big is your library? Both sizes are very large and for a fair amount of people either are more than enough? How big is you library and what do you plan on putting on it for videos and such?

This question is asked at least once a week on these forums.

Get the 32GB. You're never going to regret having too much space.

When it comes to the iPhone I always think about the resale value when its time upgrade. Consider that the next entry level iPhone might be 32GB, which means a 32GB 3Gs will be a lot easier to sell than a 16GB one, ergo you should recoup most of the difference you pay today. You can already see a significant price differential between 8 and 16GB 3Gs on Ebay (in Europe at least).

I had the 16GB first and then returned it for the 32GB. If you travel and like having a couple of tv shows/movies and all your music I think a 32GB is needed. :)

I mean I'd rather save $100 but it'd also be nice to know that I have more than enough memory if it's needed. What else will I need to get? I'm getting a case for protection - is there anything else you recommend?

32GB

$100? Come on man, it's one those things that in 6 months you won't "have" those $100 anymore and you'll just wish you add the extra space.

I have a 16GB 3G now and it fits all my needs perfectly fine. Plus I have a iPod classic if I ever need all my music with me at once.

I personally have a 16 GB and thats more than enough. It all depends on your needs and thats really it.
If you need that much room or are close to going over the 16 gigs then go for the 32.
If you don't need anymore than 16 gigs then save yourself the extra hundred and buy some good apps or new songs.

I've got a LOT of music but no videos. Right now, I would assume that I would use most of my space for music and apps. I'd never really considered videos but the thought does intrigue me. On average, how much space does a movie take up?

I have the 16 gig 3GS and it fits my needs completely. With all my music on it, I still have over half the space remaining. It really depends on what all you want to put on there. If you have a HUGE music collection, go with the 32. Otherwise, if you have under 10gigs worth of music, I would recommend going with the 16. You can always put pictures/videos on you computer.

But again, it just boils down to what you feel you need.

How large is your music collection (in gigs)? A movie for the computer is roughly 700mb... I don't have movies on my iPhone, but I'm assuming they are compressed down from that.
