My Note 3 has 3GB of ram and the battery life is fantastic.

That argument for keeping 1GB ram is one of the worst I've ever heard. Having more ram is only beneficial.
I agree that it's a lame argument but people who complain about the iPhone only having 1GB of RAM are the vast minority of users. I'll argue that an iPhone on 1GB of RAM still runs better than most Androids on 2-3 GB of RAM. RAM and specs are what Android users love to throw around regardless of actual performance.

I only mentioned the Note 3 for the purposes of demonstrating the ram to battery life ratio.

Let's face it, the "ram management" advantages of iOS are a myth. The only reason iOS runs well-ish on 1GB ram is because iOS doesn't let you multitask. If it did, it would be even more choppy.
