I currently own both the 16PM and the 17. I have a young son so I do sometimes use the telephoto but damn I would be remiss to not acknowledge how amazing 17 feels in the hand. ONe handed use is perfect, it isnt too heavy. I am contemplating letting one device go but can't seem to make up my mind. Has anyone else made the switch from a pro max to base 17? How has it been? Do you regret it?

What made you choose the air?

Initially it was the design but once I got it and used it i knew it was the phone for me. I love everything about it. Perfect sized screen in a light, slim body.

I was a pro guy because I could afford it not because I needed it which is I suspect is like many people. There is no doubt the Pro models are the top of the line iPhone but I've come to realise I dont need the best.

Going forward I hope they continue the Air line as its what I'll be sticking to.

Exactly the same situation here. My wife still insists on 3 cameras, and that is fine. But I came to realize that on the oft chance I need a more capable camera, I can just use my 12yo Nikon for macro and 20x optical zoom.

I gave up the telephoto going from 16PM to Air, but it just depends how much you use it. I realized I didn't use it that often--basically just scenic trips and live events which weren't too often for me--and on the flip side I really hated the thickness and weight of the PM. So I switched to the Air and bought a dedicated compact super zoom PaS camera to bring on the rare occasion I need it. Overall the ease of carrying and using my Air 99.5% of the time substantially outweighs the 0.5% of time I need to bring along my dedicated camera. But the equation will be different for everyone.
