17" Behemoth uMBP = Giant Lunch Tray?

The 17" is a behemoth compared to the other 2 laptops on that pic.

For those new 17" owners out there, do you find that it just takes up too much desk space? Are there issues when it comes to portability?(not while flying, I fly rarely)What are your thoughts?


EDIT: The decision has been made. 17" it is! Should be getting it next week!

Congrats on the new 17". I too was worried about the size, but I have NEVER made a better decision. If anything, my old 15 inch computer's sleeve fits my 17inch. And really, for me it wasn't that much larger.

I've had my 17" just over a week now and I love it. I've moved from a Mac Pro to this baby and the transition was seamless, almost no drop in performance (apart from extensive CPU tasks). The screen is gorgeous. I kept my 23" ACD I used with my Mac pro; I figured I could use it with my MBP too.

Thing is... I've only used it once in the past week; the MacBook's screen is just too nice to work on.

Is the text too small for me to read? Not in the slightest.

Also, it's not as cumbersome as some people suggest - I've never owned a laptop before, I find the portability very novel (especially switching from a MacPro)
