If you fancy going the DIY route, https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-1-and-up-with-pcie-expresscard-slot.2135898/ could be interesting. This thread contains no reports on using it with a 2011 17in MBP but it's been reported to work with a MBP4,1 and MBP5,2. My own attempts to get it working with a really old MBP2,1 have failed so far, however.

Thks ! Will check that.

Yep, that's correct. The MuxHat is not needed with this custom gMux firmware flashed.

Eagerly waiting for that then ! Hope it will solve that sleeping problem on that 17" of mine. Thanks.

Just realized I never updated this thread... Anyways, as of about a month ago, my custom gMux IC firmware has been released! It's compatible with ALL 15" and 17" 2011 MacBook Pro systems, and is compatible with ALL LCD panels! The only 2 caveats at this point are lack of brightness control, and the external display port does not work. I am currently in the process of implementing backlight brightness control, however external display functionality cannot work due to how the logic board is designed.

All information and resources needed can be read about on our official DeMux webpage.
