Read this morning Apple is cutting production on Airs by about 1million, upping 17 and Pro by 2 million and Pro Max by 4 million.

Go figure.
Makes sense. An inferior phone to the base model that costs more than the base model.

Just got home with two of the highest end latest iPhone models. Could not decide. Giving away the second one to anyone.

I have a clear ESR case ready to go for the phone. I try to like the orange model every time I look at it, but I'm not there yet lol. The silver is also nice, but kinda plain. I'm surprised the blue is out of stock. I miss the gold or gold-ish color they would have every year; this might be the first time with no gold color. I have a gold 14 PM right now; I wish they had a gold this year. People have been begging for a bold color for the Pros, so I guess the orange is it haha.
I would have loved a gold phone. Initially I had an order for an air, but went with blue because in the pictures the gold looked white with a gold border lol. In reality they all look ever so slightly different shades of white, which annoyed me so much I didn't want an air.

Crazy that they are sold out everywhere.. Especially in NYC... I assume that Monday/Tuesday.. .We will start seeing them back in stock.. In limited quantities still..

It is crazy. I’ve been checking Wisconsin stores for four days and not a single Pro Max.

According to Appleinsider:

According to Mizuho Securities of Japan — as spotted by The Elec, Apple is revising its manufacturing orders. By the end of 2025, the claim says that Apple will order:

  • 1 million fewer of the iPhone Air
  • 2 million more of the iPhone 17
  • 1 million more of the iPhone 17 Pro
  • 4 million more of the iPhone 17 Pro Max

The Pro Max outselling the rest of the lineup to THIS degree is genuinely impressive, and a bit surprising...

It’s crazy how every major city in the U.S. is still sold out of the Pro Max. A month later, and this thing is nearly impossible to find. I’ve been trying to buy an unlocked one for days, but at this point, I might just give up until Christmas.

Add it to your cart and check the app throughout the day, especially around noon and 3pm. You'll very likely be able to snag one. I've done it 3x over the past month, and scored the exact config I wanted within 24 hours.

Been doing that. Signed in and everyone. You know it's bad when you search New York City, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Miami, Dallas and other major cities and it shows currently unavailable for pickup.

Here in Northern California - I have not seen many 17 Pro Maxes - but the 17 Pros pop up all the time (usually 256-512). Recently, the 1TBs started showing up.

What is interesting to me is that the fine woven cases are sold out at most all the stores here...

I asked one of the geniuses (who helped us with an unrelated issue - he knew what he was doing) - he said the Airs were really underselling - and he then proceeded to pull out and Air and tell me why (speaker, etc) - but he said the Pro Maxes and Pros were selling like crazy - saying Apple really under-estimated demand for those this year.

My wife and I gave in and traded in our phones for 2 17 Pros - seems like stock is finally doing better.

Okay but not 100 %. Missing some Apple stores that have stock ……
Agreed - I went to 3 Apple Stores - after asking the person at the front to check in store stock, none of it matched what was online apple.com or that site. The 3 stores had "significantly" more stock than they listed online.

This is because Apple sets certain amount of numbers hidden from view on apple.com to allow customers to buy them in-store oppose to buying them online for store pick up.

Last week, apple.com showed the one I wanted available for pick up, so I placed an order and got the ready for pick up email. Later that night, I decided to just check the stock availability, and it showed unavailable for pick up. I went to pick up my phone next day morning and right at store opening. Someone in line asked if they have the 17 pro max, and they sure did had the exact one I purchased available for purchase.

Verizon does the same. I have a friend who works at one of the VZW corporate store, so if say they have 5 in stock, only 4 will appear online that they have it in stock, while the other one will remain hidden from online view, so that a customer who walks in to the store looking for a phone has a chance go purchase one in store.

Not really. It's a new design that will last a few upgrades, it has the best chip, best camera and has the longest battery for an iphone. If you need or want to jump to a new iphone this would be the phone to get.

The only obligatory caveat would be the rumored folding iPhone but that could be a good two plus years away, in which time you could have had this phone in the mean time.

Yes even with battery age. My much older series one still has 79% battery. I agree not great and about to need to maybe be changed but it still holds a charge pretty well if not really well. That another advantage if you use your phone a lot. If you do not still is.

Still like all the options though of versions in weight and size of a iPhone.
