As someone who finally dumped my ancient iPhone and got iP15+, leaks of 17 lineup offer nothing interesting. It looks meh to gross with that back in Max, still no TB as a cable connector. For now prefer classic iP without AI and old school mute switch. These new action buttons are hard pass for me.
TB. IP. What is that anyway?

To be honest, there's hardly any reason to upgrade to a new iPhone since like 2020. Why bother moving from a perfectly working 12 Pro to something like this? I have a 14 Pro and I deeply regret moving from 12 Mini to this brick. The new phones from Apple have absolutely nothing that would make me get rid of my perfectly working and brand new looking 14 Pro, and I won't until they make another smaller device maybe with some Pro features to make it really worth it. This years iPhone will be as boring as they were every year since 2020. There's no reason to wait for iPhone 17, and I highly doubt there will be any reason at all to wait for the 18. It will still be an ugly huge brick with a massive camera bump.
I am still using my iPhone X as we speak. The plan is to keep using it until you can’t use it anymore. And I have feeling that 2025 is on its last software update and there will be no more software update for iPhone X after 2025.

The ability to charge your AirPods by putting them on the back of the phone would be absolutely killer.
Or your watch which runs out of battery faster than the iPhone. The problem is that my Pro Max runs out of battery halfway through the day as it is - why on earth would I want to reduce that further to charge my airpods? Still waiting for an iPhone that comfortably lasts through a work day even if you actually use it.

I betcha there will be fewer reasons to wait for the 18 series over the 17 series... except for maybe the foldable if you are willing to drop that much coin. The 17 series is likely getting a lot of big upgrades like the RAM that probably won't be updated again in the 18 series. The 18 series might get a small incremental camera upgrade over the 17, but probably not as significant as the 17's camera system upgrade over the 16.
That list gave zero reasons for me to wait for the 17 series, so 18 doesn't have to try very hard to beat that. If nothing strange happens I bet I'll skip 17, 18 and 19 the same way I've skipped 15 and 16. Nothing useful added except maybe usb-c charging, but not going to pay almost 2ke for that. The prices for Pro Max models are by no means justified anymore. Not even close. 1k eur maybe. Not 1,5k+

I was excited to see the 48MP for the telephoto lens. But I see they may lower the optical zoom to 3.5x. We travel a lot and the 5x at 48MP would sure would come in handy.
