What do you think?
Many people get worked up about this. I'm not one of them. Personally, I think its a mistake by apple. What advantages does 64bit processing give you? I thought one was increased addressable ram. I think for my uses though 1GB of ram is fine and I'm not worried.

Im out. Not only has the design gone backwards but this 1gb of RAM is a joke. Im sure most iphone users wont notice since most of them want 2 inch phones anyway.

Does having more RAM decrease the battery life though?

If that's true then I don't mind having 1GB ram.

I don't see what the big deal is. My iPhone 5c with only 1 gig of RAM has no problem with 50+ backgrounded apps. That's over 50. No noticeable hit in performance. Don't get caught up in the spec wars like Android users do.

I disagree. I run into low RAM issues every single day. Some just don't have the usage patterns to experience this problem but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
If Apple seriously wanted to get some Android users to jump ship then making them swap 3GB of RAM for 1GB is a big ask. Apple really screwed up here if the 1GB rumours are correct.

Anyone know the price difference between 1gb of ram vs 3gb.

Using battery saving as an excuse is poor. I bet its all about margins for Apple.

True but by the same token, it doesn't mean that it's a huge or widespread problem. It could be more likely that MacRumors members are more likely to push their phones harder then regular consumers and thus 1GB satisfies the majority

So instead of makin the phone 1mm thicker, therefore making even battery a little more powerfull, they rather made a phone with 1gb of ram so they could save on battery power? Technical marvel.

I'm sure 1GB will work fine. Not so long ago by laptop had 256MB of RAM on Windows XP and that worked fine.

More would have nice, but for whatever reason this isn't the case.

Only place I see RAM issues is on the iPad in Safari when having multiple tabs open, it annoys me when i switch over a few and then it needs to reload the page.

I never keep that many tabs open on the iPhone (bit pointless in my opinion) so never ran into problems. I assume due to optimization that 1GB will be "better" on the iPhone 6 than on the 5.

I would have been much happier with a larger battery and the same thickness as the iPhone 5S (or even thicker)

Just because you only use your smartphone in a basic capacity, that doesn't mean that everyone is ok with 1GB of RAM.
During a long stay in hospital a couple of years ago, I used my iPhone as my only device and boy did it get some hammer! I subsequently got used to using it heavily and even now when I have access to a tablet and a laptop, I still use my iPhone for 99% of my computing and entertainment tasks. I sure as heck run into RAM issues daily. The iPhone is perfectly capable of doing everything I need, apart from the unsuitably low RAM provision...
Fix this and it's an all 'round winner. For the price of RAM and the benefits it brings, shipping the iPhone 6 with an amount which is already hampering the i5 and 5S is a joke. The i6+ will replace tablets and laptops for most people and all the people who currently have no issue with a low RAM 5S will suddenly notice the problem.

If I didn't want to get an iPhone 6, 1gb ram wouldn't even be on the list if reasons why.

I push my 5s phone with a bunch of work related apps and don't have an issue. The iPhone 6 plus is not going to replace my iPad or laptop so I think that is off the table and it's way too big for me.

Apple should have bumped the ram if these rumors are true, but I suspect the tens of millions that will buy these devices won't care.

Not doubting you but can you give me an actual example on how you noticed you ran out of RAM ?

It's plain obvious so many people have already stated examples.

You can't multitask properly, because if you go off an app and return it will refresh the app as opposed to resuming.

The infamous Safari tabs, we all know about those - they refresh.

I've also seen devs mention that they see low memory warnings on their apps sometimes.

This is another reason why :apple: only uses low amounts of memory. It forces devs to programm intelligently.
Otherwise older devices wouln't run new apps anymore.

Of course, did you expect Apple to evade their standards? They would never copy anything that the Android world ha... Oh, wait a minute.

Funny all the newbies coming on here to say I'm done with Apple lol. Apple products just work. If there is only 1 gig of ram I'm not concerned because I'm sure it will work fine. My Galaxy s4 has 2gb of ram and I cannot tell any performance difference between my husbands iPhone 5c and my galaxy s4. If anything my galaxy crashes and freezes up often. The iPhone 5c doesn't.

I only have this happen on the iPad. Never experienced it on the last few iPhones.

Seen lots of posts on here about it happening on the iPad. Haven't seen lots of posts about it happening on the iPhone.

I'll wait for The Verge, etc reviews of the iPhone 6. If RAM affects the usability, it'll be mentioned. I never saw it mentioned as issue with the last few iPhones and that's been my experience as well.
